This customer called with concerns of water in their crawlspace and had seen us at a home show. When our design specialist went out they found water and moisture in the crawlspace, when left untreated it can cause mold and wood rot problems to your crawlspace. Our crew went out and cleaned all the debris and old worn vapor barrier out. We installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier that is 20 mils thick and rip-resistant. To help keep the water from pooling in the crawlspace we installed Smart Sump and a new discharge line to make sure the water that is pumped out does not come right back in. We also installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier that keeps humidity levels down which stops the moisture and also filters out mold spores, dust, and other allergens. This customer was so happy that they now have a dry and clean crawlspace and peace of mind that the foundation of their home is protected for years to come.

Job Stories From Eugene, OR
Crawlspace Needs Repairs Before Going on the Market - Eugene, OR

This homes crawlspace hadn't been dealt with in over five years. The old vapor barrier had some rips and tears in it from contractors doing some work in there, and the place was musty and littered with general debris. The home was going to go on the market, and the ensure they could get their asking price, the homeowners were checking the home for any repairs that needed to be addressed beforehand. To handle the crawlspace, the homeowners called up John's Waterproofing. They met with our realty expert to stream lined the process to meet realty deadlines.

To begin our crew removed the old vapor barrier, debris, and the pieces of old fiberglass that were present. We then dug a trench around the crawlspaces interior, installing in a perforated pipe in a silt sock, this is installed to collect groundwater and grade it to the lowest point of the crawlspace. From here, the water is pumped through a new TripleSafe sump pump to be send away from the homes foundation. A new 6 Mil vapor barrier is laid in, overlapping the edges. This space will be all set to go on the market!

High Energy Bills for Eugene Home

This home had high energy costs. The homeowners at first thought energy costs must just be going up all around, however, upon speaking to neighbors, they noted theirs was the odd one out. They were pointed to John's Waterproofing for a solution that would lower their energy bills with a crawlspace encapsulation. A design specialist went out and performed a full inspection, they then sat down the homeowners and discussed options. In the end the homeowners chose to have a crawlspace encapsulation to protect their home from water damage, and give them insulation made to last.

To begin working our crew pulled out the severely damaged fiberglass out of the space. We then changed the exterior entrance to an EverLast Door, this will not rot or mold, and will stand the test of time. We then installed a SuperSump Plus in the low spot of the crawlspace. This will collect groundwater and send it away from the home. We then insulated the dirt floor with TerraBlock which is then covered with CleanSpace. This goes under each post, attached to the wall and is sealed into place. The vent covers were then sealed and spray foam insulation was applied to the foundation walls. As a final step we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier. The homeowners were thrilled to see their energy bills go down, and know that in the long run, this will save them money.

Uneven Floors in Eugene, OR

This homeowner contacted John's Waterproofing because bad smells were coming up from his crawlspace and he suspected a mold problem. Our System Designer showed up at the home and after a professional introduction, he got to work right away.  He measured the home and inspected the exterior to look for any signs on the outside that could be contributing to the problem. He found the downspouts in good shape and operating as they should so next he inspected the crawlspace where he did a thorough inspection. Our specialist found a water intrusion that had led to insulation falling and mold starting to grow on the wooden posts and beams. That was where the nasty smell was coming from. The designer suggested CleanSpace encapsulation as it was the ONLY way to get rid of the mold for good.

A few weeks later our experienced installers came out and removed all of the debris, old fiberglass insulation, and the damaged vapor barrier.  A perforated pipe drainage system was installed around the perimeter and diverts all groundwater to a newly installed TripleSafe sump system. The crew then laid down TerraBlock and vents were sealed and all wooden posts isolated. A 20 Mil CleanSpace vapor barrier was then installed, seams were sealed up, and it was run up the walls, fastening under the rim joist. We also installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to ensure the humidity was controlled, preventing mold growth and keeping the homes air fresh and healthy. Finally, spray foam was applied to the rim joist to aid the TerraBlock in properly insulating the space.

Drafty Crawlspace with Falling Insulation in Eugene, OR

A crawlspace that is open to the elements with falling insulation leads to high energy bills. This is the sad equation that was affecting this home, and the high energy bills were getting to be annoying. To solve this issue, the homeowners called in John's Waterproofing.

Our crew began by removing the old insulation and debris from under the home. To collect the groundwater we then installed a SuperSump pump with an UltraSump back up. This will work to keep all groundwater out and away from the homes foundation. We than began to insulate, to make this a crawlspace specific insulation, we installed our TerraBlock insulation over the dirt floor and used Spray foam along the foundation walls. To fully encase the space we installed out 20 Mil CleanSpace vapor barrier and new vent covers to ensure everything outside of the crawlspace, would stay outside. As a final step we installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This home is now dry and healthy and the homeowners are ecstatic to see their energy bills go down in cost.

Partially Waterproofed Crawlspace Fails to Address the Issue - Eugene, OR

This home had a generic 6 mil vapor barrier installed recently. A different waterproofing company had told this family that this was all they would need to solve their issues. However, within a year, they noticed that water was coming through the foundation walls and was pooling along the foundation base and even overflowing on top of the vapor barrier. While they were upset that the vapor barrier wasn't doing enough, they knew they needed to take action to get their crawlspace fully waterproofed.

Our crews came out and began by removing the old vapor barrier and any debris under the home. We then installed our TerraBlock crawlspace insulation and a SuperSump Plus sump pump to direct all water out and away from the foundation of the home. We then isolated each pier and sealed up the space with our CleanSpace 20 Mil vapor barrier. We did spray foam along the foundation walls to help the crawlspace's temperature be regulated and added in a SaniDry dehumidifier to regulate the relative humidity. To encase the space we finished by installing new vent covers.

First Time Installment of Vapor Barrier; Eugene, OR

Mr. and Mrs. Zauner called due to finding water in their crawl space. They didn't have any form of a barrier for the crawl space, however. So the soil was very moist, which can cause the posts to start to sink.

Tyler and his crew went out and did a dry out of the space. To ensure that when they laid down the new Vapor Barrier, there wouldn't be any unnecessary moisture buildup. Thankfully their insulation had no signs of water buildup, or mold growth starting, so they left it be.

The couple was astonished by the difference in smell, in that there wasn't any. They were pleased to find that the water had not caused any damage, other than puddles.

Spray Foam Insulation & Cleanspace in Eugene, OR Crawlspace

This homeowner called John's Waterproofing because her crawlspace had standing water and fallen insulation that was torn up by rodents. Our inspector, Vince suggested removing the old insulation and installing Spray Foam insulation, our patented Cleanspace encapsulation system and a Triple Safe sump pump.

The homeowner agreed and Divine and his team quickly went to work. They started by removing the old, falling and torn insulation and replaced it with Spray Foam insulation. Spray Foam is preferable to fiber glass because it's closed celled and won't absorb or hold water vapor. They also installed CleanSpace insulation, a 20mil thick vapor barrier that encapulates and keeps out all moisture, prevents mold and mildew growth and comes with a 25-year warranty. A Triple Safe sump pump was installed and is designed to withstand all pumping requirements with its three pump system. It will even continue to work when the power goes out.

Cammie is now very pleased that her crawlspace is waterproofed and more energy efficient. She no longer worries about rodents or standing water.
