This crawl space had a sump pump previously installed, but it couldn’t keep up with the amount of water the crawl space was taking on. The company that had installed it also didn't place it properly thus no water was flowing to it and was just gathering in areas around it. we installed our top of the line TripleSafe sump pump and CleanSpace Encapsulation. The pump was placed properly along with additional drainage to ensure the water will be going to the pump that is powerful enough to keep up with the amount of water coming in. The CleanSpace Barrier will ensure no water or moisture seeps back into the crawl space.

Job Stories From Hebo, OR
Water Coming up Through Basement Floors in Hebo, OR

This homes daylight basement only dipped about two feet below-grade. But the floors were noticeably wet near the walls. Trying to see how big an issue this was, the homeowners pulled up the edges of the floor and found water pooling. As the space was used every day, they wanted to have it waterproofed, and called up John's Waterproofing to schedule their free inspection and discuss a system that would protect their home.

To begin our work our crew pulled off the lower half of the walls and the floor. We then dug a trench along the internal perimeter of the entire basement. Here we installed a bed of gravel and our WaterGuard drain system. The lower portions of the walls were then waterproofed using a ThermalDry radiant vapor barrier. This guides wall moisture to the drain system. From here, the drainage system grades the water to the lowest point where a TripleSafe sump pump is installed. The walls were refinished with our EverLast Wall restoration system. A SaniDry dehumidifier was installed, and the floors refinished.

Old Vapor Barrier has Holes - Hebo, OR

A simple 6 Mil vapor barrier provides a temporary solution to water issues in a crawlspace, but they need to be replaced every few years. This homes vapor barrier was riddled with rips and holes, and was due to be replaced. They homeowner called us up for a free inspection and spoke with a design specialist to find the solution for their home and budget.

While not ready for the long-term solution; encapsulation, they were ready to take a step in that direction. To begin working we pulled out the old debris and vapor barrier. Once the space was cleared out we installed a drainage system with a SuperSump Plus. This will collect groundwater and safely send it away from the home. We also upgraded the exterior entrance to an EverLast door, their old entryway did not seal fully and had chew marks, so to help keep critters out, this was an important step. We then laid in a new 6 Mil vapor barrier, running this up the foundation walls and overlapping the edges.

Damp Crawlspace Smells Odd in Hebo, OR

This hillside home had a small crawlspace that had an old vapor barrier. They homeowners would glance under their home every spring, but they never noted anything looking particularly wet. As the years went on though, a smell began to emanate from this area. Since they couldn't see anything odd, they called up John's Waterproofing to have a full inspection. Upon inspection, a design specialist went into the crawlspace, while it was generally clean, when pulling the old fiberglass insulation down a bit, mold spores were growing behind this on the wooden beams of the foundation.

To family was eager to address the mold issue, the family decided to move forward with a full crawlspace encapsulation. We first cleaned out the old vapor barrier and cleared out the damaged fiberglass. The home needed proper crawlspace insulation that wouldn't mold or hold water. To begin we installed an UltraSump pump in the low spot to send water out and away from the home to a LawnScape outlet. The mold spores were treated as needed and all vents were sealed up. We then laid down TerraBlock Insulation over the dirt floor. CleanSpace was then used to ensure all wooden aspects of the foundation were sealed off from water and moisture content. Spray Foam was applied to the foundation walls and a SaniDry dehumidifier was installed. The homeowners were thrilled with their crawlspace upgrade and are pleased to report, the odd odor is gone and their heating and cooling costs ended up going down!

Stream Runs through Crawlspace - Hebo, OR

This older home was situated around some beautiful streams and the crawlspace had its own stream cutting through it when heavy rains hit. The homeowners had tried to divert the water by digging a trench around the home to keep water from going under the home.  While this would help for a short time,  heavy rains would eventually fill these in with mud and water would go under the house once more.  After trying multiple times,  they called up John's Waterproofing to get some professional help.

To begin our crew cleaned up the crawlspace and removed all of the debris. We then dug a trench in the crawlspace along the interior perimeter. To ensure it doesn't just fill in with soil, we installed a perferated pipe system in a silt sock,  which collects the ground water and sends it to the newly installed TripleSafe Sump Pump. This will safely keep the water sent out and away from the foundation to keep it protected. We then installed CleanSpace. This is a 20 mil woven barrier which is inserted under each wooden post, anchored to the walls and sealed into place. This space is now much better prepared for water.

Blown-in Attic Insulation - Hebo, OR

On finding out that John's Waterproofing also offers attic insulation, these previous crawlspace customers were very excited to have us come out and check out their attic. They knew there was no insulation present, and their home suffered high energy bills, and they knew that insulating their attic was crucial to meeting their goals. A system designer came out and took photos and measurements in order to give them an accurate proposal which was accepted right away.

Our finishing crew came out and got to work. All of the fans, lighting fixtures, and other voids where air could escape were carefully sealed and the access door was insulated. Then the fixtures were all boxed in to keep the insulation material clear of them. Cellulose insulation is the safest and most cost-effective material for insulating attics and it is fireproof. The cellulose insulation was then blown into the attic with an insulation blower that takes densely packed bales of cellulose which are fed into the hopper where it is fluffed up and then fed into long tubes and out of the application nozzle. The cellulose is allowed to fill the cavities and blanket the attic floor. No pressure is placed on the loose-fill cellulose insulation so it can settle around and conform to most of the obstructions found in attics. With the job completed, these homeowners are looking forward to lower utility bills and a more comfortable home.

Damp Basement Leaves Storage Items Molding in Hebo, OR

As time progresses it is normal for a home to settle, and this home's basement was seeing the signs of this. The basement had a few spots that were letting in moisture and dampness, this was causing water mold to begin appearing on the items stored in this space. The homeowners were worried about this and called up John's Waterproofing for a solution to this issue.

Our crew arrived and began to waterproof the space. We began by digging a trench along with the interior parameter and installed our WaterGaurd drainage system here which was graded to a newly installed TripleSafe Sump pump. From here water is safely pushed out and away from the home. The walls were then covered in BrightWall panels which will direct all water moisture safely down the wall to the drainage system. As a final piece, we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep this space dry and healthy.

Business Waterproofs Basement and Adds Storage Space - Hebo, OR

As this company grew, they realized they needed more space. While buying a new building and moving their operations wasn't yet feasible, they opted to waterproof the basement and tap into the space they already had. To ensure this was done properly, they called in John's Waterproofing.

Our crews came out and began by digging a trench along the interior parameter and installed a WaterGuard drainage system. This collected the groundwater and directed it to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump. From here the water was taken out and away from the home to a LawnScape outlet. We than installed BrightWall paneling to the foundation walls to ensure that any water that crept through the walls was directed to the drainage system. As the final piece, to keep humidity levels down so mold wouldn't be a threat, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed. This basement was now a safe, dry and healthy space for the company to use.

Noticing Signs of Water Damage in Basement - Hebo, OR

When at a home show in Portland these homeowners decided to stop at our booth. They read through a pamphlet and noticed many of the issues that come with water issues in a basement, were happening in their basement; musty smells, crystalline deposit on concrete, condensation, and cracks in the foundation walls. With these issues on their mind, they wanted someone to come inspect their basement to see if they needed to worry, so we set up a free estimate appointment to walk through their basement with them. Upon inspection our representative was able to find some water issues that should be addressed and pointed out to the homeowners where water damage was beginning to seep into the exposed wood beams in the basement.

To solve this issue our install crew began by digging a trench along the interior of the basement and installing our WaterGuard system to divert all of the ground water to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump. This would then divert all water out and away from the homes foundation. To keep the water on the walls contained we installed our BrightWall panels. Once those were fully installed and secured we added in a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity levels from the condensation. When our crew left it was looking bright, clean, and most importantly dry. The homeowners were so pleased that their home was protected from water damage.
