This small basement had been finished a few years prior. It housed a large amount of storage items as well as a home office. Last year the homeowners noted that some of the drywall was squishy to the touch, they dried the space with a fan, and kept an eye on this, hoping it was a fluke incident. However, the dampness came back and as months passed, the squishy spaces became more widespread. The homeowners searched online and decided to receive a free inspection and estimate from John's Waterproofing. They really liked that we could demo, waterproof, and refinish as a single company. To not have to deal with the hassle of multiple contracting companies they moved forward with us. 

To begin our crew removed the damaged drywall and flooring. We then dug a trench along the interior perimeter of the space. Here we installed a WaterGuard drainage system. This will collect water from the walls and ground and naturally grade it along to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump to be dispelled out and away from the homes foundation. We then installed ThermalDry radiant vapor barrier along the walls. This will both insulate and act as a vapor barrier, ensuring moisture from the wall seeps down to the drain system. We also installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the air here healthy. Our finishing crew then arrived and refinished the space. The homeowners were very pleased with the final product and are glad they no longed need to worry about water issues occurring. 

These new homeowners had just moved in, and a heavy rainstorm came by. To their surprise, the crawlspace flooded. They learned the previous homeowners had just laid down a 6 mil vapor barrier, but this wasn't enough for how much water the home experienced. Since their old home had an encapsulated crawlspace, they decided to call up John's Waterproofing to work on the new home. 

Our installation crew began by drying out the space. With the space dry we then were able to clear out debris and the 6 mil. a full drainage system was then installed to collect water and send it along to a new SmartSump in the lowest point of the crawlspace. We then insulated with TerraBlock along the flood. Next the vents were sealed up, and CleanSpace was laid out. It went under each wooden post, and attached along the walls. We then installed a SaniDry dehumidifier and a few weeks later out spray foam specialist arrived to insulate the foundation walls. This space will now be dry and healthy!

This homeowner had tried many things to keep water from invading this basement to no avail. He finally figured out that he needed professional help so he called John's Waterproofing. A System Designer went to the home and walked with the homeowner through the basement and educated him about WaterGuard, an effective and reliable way to solve wet basement problems permanently! They also discussed various options available for finishing the basement space from semi-finishing products to a full finished look.

The homeowner wanted a nice space that could be put together quickly. First, the WaterGuard was installed and graded to a TripleSafe Sump System with a battery backup to protect their basement investment in the event of a power outage. Once completed, ThermalDry Wall, a flexible vapor barrier that helps to insulate the basement was installed. Over that, EverLast Finished Wall Restoration was installed, this beautiful prefinished wall product can be installed in a fraction of the time that framing and drywall can be installed. No sanding, no dust, and time saved. The trim used is mold and mildew proof and no painting is needed. The finishing touch was laying ThermalDry Elite plank flooring. This durable product gives the basement the warm look of wood and will not be affected by moisture. Now in less than half the time of regular refinishing, this basement is ready to use for the family!

It used to be common practice to leave a crawlspace open to the elements. It was believed that a draft through this space would help keep it from being stuffy. However, we now know this can cause problems from water damage, high energy costs, mold, and rot, keeping a crawlspace open to the elements is problematic. For years this home had been using band-aid solutions to their water problem. A 6 Mil vapor barrier was replaced every few years, and the fiberglass insulation was being tied up and replaced whenever it was water heavy as well. At a home show, they ended up seeing our booth and heard that we had long-term solutions to their water problems. 

To begin we cleared out the old insulation and vapor barrier. Once the space was cleaned out we laid down TerraBlock crawlspace insulation. We then installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier over this. It is placed between posts and piers and anchored along the walls. To keep the draft from entering we installed vent covers, and a Turtl entrance, and insulated the space with spray foam. 

The homeowners called after having another company install a vapor barrier. When they inspected it, they saw that the job was poorly done. While, on the surface level the job looked complete, they discovered the barrier was lightly wrapped around piers, and not taped together in some places deep under their home. They tried to get help to fix these issues, but to no avail, and so they called John's Waterproofing. 

Since the home hadn't experienced an excessive amount of water, the homeowners just wanted to get a properly installed vapor barrier, and so our crew took out the poorly done job. They then installed our Cleanspace barrier; a 20 Mil reinforced vapor barrier that is tear resistant. This was sealed under all eighteen piers and taped into place with waterproof tape. This crawlspace will be ready to combat vapor now and the homeowners can rest easy.
