Job Stories From Eddyville, OR
Water Pools along Basement Walls - Eddyville, OR

Pooling water is an easy way to determine that a water issue is present. When the rainy season came along, this basement would have pooling water along the foundation walls. After noticing that this issue was becoming more frequent, and the water spots were growing, the homeowners decided to research solutions. They knew they wanted a long-term approach to this issue, so they scheduled their free inspection with John's Waterproofing. We sent out a design specialist who did a full inspection, and sat down to discuss options, and products to find a solution for the homeowners needs.

To solve this issue we began by digging a trench along the interior perimeter of the basement. We lay in a bed of gravel with our WaterGuard drain system. The walls are then covered with BrightWall paneling. This will guide any wall moisture down into the drainage system. From here it is carefully graded down to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump to then be pushed safely away from the homes foundation. We then installed a SaniDry dehumidifier and an Aspen air purifier to keep the air healthy in the basement and the home above.

Basement Water Issues in Eddyville, OR

When a water problem is evident, it is not a question of if it will get progressively worse, but when. Once water has a way through a homes foundation, it will just keep coming and time will allow the water to come through more efficiently. That is why we provide long term solutions that keep this water moving out and away from the home safely. These homeowners had noted that what was once condensation along their basement walls, had become small puddles along their basement floor. After a full inspection with a design specialist, they were ready to waterproof!

Our installation crew began by digging a trench along the interior perimeter of the basement, here we installed a bed of gravel with a WaterGuard drainage system. This will collect the groundwater and all the water from the walls and grade it to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump to be pushed away from the home. To ensure the water from the walls makes it here, we installed a BrightWall panel system on the walls. This material cannot rot, mold, and is easy to clean while brightening the space. We then installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the air in this space healthy as well. The homeowners are pleased the basement looks so bright and nice now, no longer a damp burden.

Replacing a Vapor Barrier in Eddyville, OR

The homeowners called up John's Waterproofing when they noticed their old 6 mil vapor barrier was due to be replaced. They didn't want to encapsulate or do any extra work, just replace. Our installation crew came out and pulled out the old vapor barrier, and debris. The old barrier had chew marks and tears, and had been moved around over the years. We then brought in a new 6 mil vapor barrier. We overlapped the barrier edges and ran it up the foundation walls to add extra protection against water issues. We then replaced two of the vent screens since they had been chewed through by rodents.

Crack in Basement Wall - Eddyville, OR

Seeing a crack develop in your basement wall can be very disconcerting. The homeowner, in this case, was noticing that there was moisture at the base of a small area of the basement when they removed some drywall. Here, they discovered a long crack in the foundation. They called John's Waterproofing even though there were no signs that it was leaking badly. A system designer came out with a moisture meter to spot-check the full perimeter of the basement's baseboards, and found no indication of moisture anywhere but where the crack was. The homeowner opted to fill the crack.

A 2-man crew came out to take care of the crack. First, they opened the crack slightly with it being wider in front and closing in a V-shape to the back. They filled the crack with Bentonite, a clay material known for its ability to swell when it comes into contact with moisture, and then a layer of Xypex, a crystalline, fast-drying hydraulic cement.

Riverfront Home has Pooling in CrawlSpace

When a house is built near a water source, waterproofing becomes that much more important to protect your home. Water can cause long-term damage which shortens the longevity of a home, and this home had pooled in the crawlspace almost year round. The homeowners were concerned about the damage this water could impose, so they called up John's Waterproofing for help.

Our crew arrived and to keep the home dry and healthy, began to do a full encapsulation. This began with cleaning out the debris from under the home and a dry out. Once the space was ready we installed a perforated pipe system around the interior parameter. This collects the groundwater and grades it all to a newly installed SmartSump pump with an UltraSump backup. From here the water is safely diverted out and away from the home. We then laid down our crawlspace insulation; TerraBlock. We then used a 20 Mil vapor barrier; CleanSpace. This woven material is inserted under each wooden post, anchored along the foundation wall joists, and fully secured. The foundation walls were then sealed and insulated with spray foam, and the vent covers were upgraded. This home will now be dry and healthy.

Crawlspace Vents are Chewed by Vermin - Eddyville, OR

The homeowners hadn't put much thought to their crawlspace, until they noticed their vent covers had chew marks, and holes in them. Upon further investigation, there was evidence of critters being under the home. The homeowners had a pest control company come out to remove the unwanted guests. Worried about issues coming back, they looked for a long term solution.

To keep critters out we used our product: CleanSpace. This is a woven 20 Mil vapor barrier. It is backed by a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. It seals under each wooden post and anchored along each wall. This tough material will keep vermin from crawling up into the crawlspace from the dirt flooring. We then replaced each vent cover so we could help keep the outside, out of this space.

Heavy Rain Causes Crawlspace to get Damp in Eddyville, OR

During the rainy season, the dirt crawlspace floor had a tendency to get very damp and muddy. because of this, there was mud caked on some of the wooden piers under the home and general debris that kept the crawlspace dirty and difficult for anyone to get into. With the though about foundation damage on their minds, the homeowners reached out to John's Waterproofing for their waterproofing needs.

To begin, we leveled out the crawlspace since the damp mud had made some spots more difficult to maneuver through. Our install crews then dug a trench along the interior parameter and installed a three inch perforated pipe to direct water to a new SmartSump pump. This would shoot the water out and away from the homes foundation so it wouldn't have water damage. We then isolated each wooden pier and secured Cleanspace throughout the crawlspace. This would keep the water out of the crawlspace as well as create a clean and easy to check system if anyone were to go under the home. The homeowners were very pleased with their fresh crawlspace and were happy to not have to worry when the rains came through again.
