When water is carried through a foundation it can leave mineral deposits on the wall as it dries. This is all dependent upon what minerals are present in the soil around the home, and for this home it left a white residue. The owners of the home would try to scrub the residue away but when heavy rains hit, it would just come back and the owners wanted their basement to still look nice, so they contacted John's Waterproofing to learn about their options. We sent out a design specialist who did a full inspection and than worked on a repair plan. 
To begin we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement. Within this trench we laid down gravel and our WaterGuard drain system. This is concreted over, giving it a discreet finish. All water will be able to collect within this and channel to the lowest point in the room. Here we installed a TripleSafe sump pump, which will take the water and safely pump it away from the home, through a discharge line away from the foundation. Since the home had below- grade window, we installed drainage for the window. This allows any water that collects in the window well to have a safe route to the new drain system. We than installed BrightWall panels along the wall. This material will not mold or rot, and provides a semi-finished look for the space. A SaniDry dehumidifier was the last piece to be installed. This machine will keep the relative humidity within a healthy range, ensuring the home can remain dry and healthy all year round. 

Having water flooding in the basement is every homeowners worst nightmare. Not only does it take away valuable living space, but it can also cause negative health effects. When water is in the basement, it can create an environment for mold to grow, wood to rot, and create cracks in the foundation. This homeowner started noticing small amounts of water puddling into the basement and before it could cause significant damage, they reached out to John's Waterproofing. 

We identified that water was seeping in and just puddling in the basement because there was no proper drainage installed. We installed our WaterGuard drainage system that goes beneath the concrete in the basement. It is made of plastic pipe that has holes in it to collect water and safely give it a passageway to access a sump pump. The WaterGuard is lined with gravel to help filter the water through and prevent any kind of clogging. Once it is installed, we can cover the WaterGuard with concrete to give it a discreet look as if nothing is there. Then we install a TripleSafe sump pump. This connects to the WaterGuard and its purpose is to take all that water and safely push it away from the homes foundation through a discharge line outside. This three-pump system is designed to work efficiently and independently so that the homeowner never has to worry. Lastly, to keep moisture out of the air and maintain a completely dry basement, we installed a SaniDry dehumidifier. This device is able to control the environment in the basement which helps protect against mold growth. Now, the basement is fully waterproofed for the homeowners to enjoy.

This homes basement had been finished, back then no water issues were present. But now a noticeably damp smell was taking over. The homeowners were worried about the smell and what it could mean for this space, so they called upon John's Waterproofing. Using our hygrometer to test the humidity in the air, finding it well above the recommended level. With the homeowners permission we removed a section of drywall, and found mold spores in the homes insulation. We then pulled up a corner of the carpeting to discover the carpet edges were molding and still damp. The homeowner was very bothered to find they were living with these issues right under foot, and were ready for a healthy change. 

To begin we removed the old carpeting and the drywall. Once the space was cleared out we installed a drain system. This uses a trench around the interior perimeter with our WaterGuard drain system. We also installed our ThermalDry radiant vapor barrier on the foundation walls. This safely guides water down the foundation walls where it meets up with groundwater to be guided through the new drain system. This ensures water makes its way to the lowest point where a SuperSump Plus will then pump the water safely away from the homes foundation. A SaniDry dehumidifier was installed and we then set the space back up to be refinished by a contractor of the homeowners choice. This time they can enjoy peace of mind that the space can stay dry and healthy.
