Moisture Brings Mold

Entrance to the Crawlspace

CONTROLLING MOISTURE TO STOP MOLD

TRULY SOLVING THE PROBLEM

When our office received the call to come and inspect this crawlspace, it was due to a musty smell reported by the homeowner. When asked how long the smell had existed, the homeowner said, "the smell comes and goes, and gets worse when it is hot or we've been gone for a few days. I think there might be something dead down there and would love it if you guys could check it out.". Going under the home through the bedroom, gave a much different view of the home's health. Opening the hatch to the crawlspace, that smell came immediately to the forefront. Our inspector proceeded forward into the inspection and it didn't take long to discover the source of the smell.

A wet warm cavern greeted the design specialist and an initial visual sweep of the space revealed a white fuzz that coated much of the space and a squishy mud began to rise along the heels of his boots. This film covering the crawlspace was mold due to high humidity. The mud was a result of high humidity and condensation accumulating in the space, combined with ground water from an exterior wall.
