Photo Album: CleanSpace and SmartJacks and Vent Covers, Oh My! - Edmonds, WA

This crawl space was in need of a full revamp. The existing vapor barrier was shredded, fiberglass insulation was scattered throughout, exterior vents were letting outside air in, and the home's support posts were failing. We gave this space a makeover with a full encapsulation. A full drainage system with a sump pump was undertakes to address the present water. Following this, the CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed over TerraBlock insulation, SilverGlo insulating wall panels were placed, heavy-duty vent covers installed, twenty-one SmartJacks placed and adjusted to support the home's structure, an EverLast crawl space access door, and a SuperSump Plus sump pump. Now this crawl space is cleaner, drier, and built to last.

Old, Open Crawl Space Access

This wide-open crawl space access opening was loosely covered with a thin piece of wood, which left the space vulnerable to water intrusion and unwanted rodents and pests. The opening also allowed conditioned air to escape, leading to inconsistent temperatures throughout the home.

Destroyed Crawl Space

This destroyed crawl space was covered in a dirty, torn vapor barrier that was no longer providing protection like it was supposed to. This left the crawl space exposed to moisture and created a damp and unhealthy environment.

Dug Out Trench

A trench was dug along the crawl space perimeter to make room for the installation of a Perf Pipe drainage system.

Moldy, Fallen Fiberglass Insulation

Moldy fiberglass insulation had fallen from the crawl space subflooring and was scattered throughout. Not only was it no longer doing its job, but the fallen insulation provided a cozy nest for rodents

Perf Pipe

A Perf Pipe was wrapped in a silt sock to keep debris from clogging the drainage system and inserted into the trench. This collects groundwater and safely sends it to the sump pump.

Vent Cover

A new durable, heavy-duty plastic vent cover was installed to help keep out unwanted water, pests, and outside air.

CleanSpace

TerraBlock, a thick foam, was installed underneath the CleanSpace liner to insulate the crawl space. The white heavy-duty CleanSpace was installed along the floor to keep moisture and humidity out while creating a polished, clean look.

SaniDry Sedona & SmartJacks

A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to keep moisture and humidity levels under control, specifically around 55% relative humidity. SmartJacksare steel posts, provide permanent support for the home. They are adjustable, which allows them to be fine-tuned to the home and stabilize the floor above.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

This crawl space received a full encapsulation, which created a sealed barrier along the walls and floor to ensure the crawl space and home stay dry, safe, and healthy for years to come.
