Photo Album: Water Damage and Structural Damage Go Hand-in-Hand - Woodburn, OR

Oftentimes, crawl spaces in the PNW need both professional waterproofing, as well as structural reinforcement, as water damage is unrelenting. These 2 things often go hand-in-hand, because persistent moisture beneath homes cause erosion, rotting, shifting, and otherwise dangerous deterioration of the supportive components of the subfloor and foundation of the home. When parts and pieces belonging to the supportive frame of a home become damaged in any way, the entire structure and stability of the home is at risk of catastrophic damage. When this homeowner called on us, one of our highly trained Design Specialists is scheduled to complete a thorough, free inspection, and will then recommend effective solutions. For this home we recommended an Encapsulation. Our Encapsulated crawl spaces are completely sealed, waterproofed, and insulated from the ground up, to prevent moisture, rodents, and debris from being able to enter the space. In continuously wet crawl spaces, the original wooden posts can rot, leaving them incapable of supporting the weight of the home. To reinforce the subfloor, our structural crew will remove the compromised wooden posts, and replace them with our heavy-duty Steel SmartJacks. SmartJacks are "jacked up" until the overhead floor is once again level, and even weight distribution across the entire subfloor is achieved. They remain permanently in place, and offer high adjustability in the future if need be. Because our SmartJacks are made of steel, they are resistant to rot, and offer far superior longevity compared to traditional wooden posts.  We than place drainage and a sump pump to address the standing water. Insulate with TerraBlock along the dirt floor and Spray Foam along the walls with a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture from the air.
