Photo Album: A Soaking Situation in the Crawl Space - Lopez Island, WA

Water was pooling underneath the home. Temperatures were rising. Mold on the horizon. Musty odors wafted above. These homeowners called John's Waterproofing, desperate to save their abode. We urgently sent out a Design Specialist to investigate. After a thorough examination of the crawl space, our team worked with the homeowners to devise a plan best fit to preserve the home and stay within their budget. The project started with the removal of the nasty vapor barrier, standing water, mold, and fallen insulation. Then, a trench was dug around the interior perimeter of the crawl space. A Perf Pipe was inserted into this trench and was wrapped in a silt sock to ensure no debris could clog it. Perf Pipes are used to collect water and redirect it to the sump pump. Next, a SuperSump Plus was installed and would pump any excess water far away from the home with a discharge line. The last step was to trap ground moisture from rising into the crawl space with the addition of a fresh 6-Mil vapor barrier anchored along the dirt floor. Due to the homeowner's quick, preventative measures and the hard work from John's Waterproofing, the home was now protected from unwanted water, mold, and rot.

Messy, Dirty Crawl Space

This crawl space was in pretty rough shape. Random wires throughout, dirt and rocks covering the floor, a ripped vapor barrier exposing the ground, and drooping insulation overhead.

Fallen Insulation and Ripped Vapor Barrier

Fallen insulation and a ripped vapor barrier on the sloped section of the crawl space left the dirt below exposed and the area in shambles.

Standing Water in Crawl Space

Standing water from excess intrusion had collected on top of the vapor barrier, leaving the crawl space damp and vulnerable to further issues.

Exposed Footings

Exposed footings of the home's support with ripped cardboard wrapped around them, leaving the wood vulnerable to water intrusion and rot.

SuperSump Plus Installation

A SuperSump Plus was installed at the lowest point of the crawl space, allowing water from the Perf Pipe to flow into the pump with minimal resistance.
