Photo Album: Water Entering Finished Basement in Portland, OR
This homeowner reached out to John's due to finding wet spots in their basement carpet and was interested in finding a solution that would address the water intrusion permanently. We went out and inspected the basement after which we went over the best options with this homeowner and created a plan that will permanently address the water issues.
We start this project by removing the perimeter walls with water damage. Next we use a jack hammer to dig a trench around the interior perimeter and in this trench we install our WaterGuard. This is a perimeter drainage system that will collect water from the walls as well as groundwater and drain it to the lowest point of the basement, where we install our SuperSump Plus to pump the water outside of the home, away from the foundation through a discharge line. Our LawnScape outlet is then connected to the discharge line outside to prevent debris from entering. This system then gets concreted over to provide a discreet look. Along the walls we install our ThermalDry Radiant Barrier which will not only collect water from the walls and direct it down to the perimeter drainage system below, but will also help maintain a comfortable temperature. A SaniDry dehumidifier is brought in to than maintain a healthy relative humidity in the basement year after year. To finish this project, we have our finishing department come in and install our paint ready sheet rock walls and now that this basement system is installed this homeowner can have peace of mind and dry, stable and healthy home.
