Photo Album: Cleaning Up and Waterproofing the Crawl Space - Eugene, OR
This homeowner had a sump pump installed by another company in their crawl space years ago. They never checked on it or serviced the sump pump to ensure everything was running smoothly. The homeowner decided it was properly a good idea to have someone come out and take a look after noticing a musty odor in their home. They decided to call John's Waterproofing and upon the inspection found that the cord to their sump pump had been chewed through by rodents. Their crawl space became a complete disaster, being overrun with moisture damage and falling insulation. We suggested getting our Pipe Pump Plastic system installed to save their crawl space and their home. To begin, we needed to remove all the falling fiberglass insulation because it had absorbed years worth of moisture and was creating an environment for mold and mildew to grow. We took out what was left of the original vapor barrier because it was ripped up from rodents and wasn't protecting against water intrusion. Then, once everything was cleaned out, we were able to install a new drainage system that would actually protect against water trying to seep through. We lay a perforated pipe along the interior perimeter of the crawl space which collects any water that tries to seep through and offers a safe passageway. This pipe connects to a SuperSump Plus sump pump to dispose of the collected water. The sump pump is capable of taking all that water and securely pushing it out and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line. With these pieces working together, the crawl space will stay dry all year round. We also installed a new 6 mil vapor barrier. Each seam is overlapped to prevent water from being able to seep through and is anchored up the foundation walls. With this new system installed, the homeowner feels safer knowing their home will stay dry and healthy.
Falling Fiberglass Insulation.
Due to moisture damage, the fiberglass insulation was completely sagging from the sub-floor, negating its purpose of insulating the home.
Debris Covered Vapor Barrier.
The original vapor barrier was covered in dirt, debris, and standing water indicating years worth of water seeping through and bringing outside sediment into the crawl space.
New 6 Mil Vapor Barrier.
With the new vapor barrier installed, the crawl space is sealed and can help to prevent water from seeping through and causing more damage to the home.
SuperSump Plus.
The SuperSump Plus sump pump takes any water that tries to enter and can securely push it out of the crawl space to keep it dry and healthy.
