Photo Album: Keeping Your Crawl Space Dry and Healthy - Anacortes, WA
This homeowner decided it was time to check on their crawl space and see what condition it was in. Upon their inspection, they discovered water was puddling in and the vapor barrier was completely destroyed. Deciding this was going to be a big project, they reached out to John's Waterproofing about solutions to keeping water out without breaking the budget. We informed them of the Pipe Pump Plastic system and they agreed it would be the best option for their situation until they werent ready to fully encapsulate. The first step in this process is removing the damaged vapor barrier. It was covered in dirt and debris brought in from water and when the water evaporates in the air it leaves behind the sediment. The dirt and debris can cause rips and tears in the vapor barrier, negating its purpose of sealing the crawl space to keep water out. Then, we installed a drainage system using a perforated pipe. The pipe goes along the interior perimeter and collects water that enters the space. It offers it a safe passageway to the TripleSafe sump pump to be securely pushed out and away from the homes foundation. Once the drainage system is installed, then we place a new vapor barrier. This 6 mil liner is installed along the base, up the foundation walls, and between the footing and wooden posts to isolate and protect. We anchor the vapor barrier on the foundation walls to ensure it is secure and can act as a guide for water to be sent to the drainage system. Once this system is fully installed, the homeowner won't have to worry about standing water in the crawl space and can enjoy the benefits of a dry home.
Unprotected Crawl Space.
The original vapor barrier was covered in dirt and debris brought in with water. When this happens it can cause rips and tears in the liner which allow for more water entry.
Step 1: Pipe.

Step 2: Pump.
The TripleSafe sump pump takes all the collected water that tries to enter the space and securely pushes it out and away from the homes foundation to keep it dry.
Step 3: Plastic.
