Photo Album: Failing Insulated Crawl Space Gets Encapsulated - Corvallis, OR

This crawl space was experiencing huge moisture issues. It was causing all the fiberglass insulation to sag and fall from the sub-floor, negating its purpose of properly insulating the home. Wanting to get something done to fix the insulation, the homeowner reached out to John's Waterproofing. We informed them of the encapsulation process and the different types of insulation we would use instead so that it will last long-term. To begin, we removed all the previous insulation and vapor barrier. Then, we installed a drainage system using a pipe and a RainDrain. These work together to collect water and safely push it away from the homes foundation. TerraBlock, a thick insulation foam, gets installed along the base of the crawl space. This works to seal the earth off from the home and regulate the environment inside the crawl space. On top of that, a CleanSpace vapor barrier is installed along the base, up the foundation walls, and between the footing and wooden posts to isolate and protect against water damage. This vapor barrier is made with thick woven fibers and is backed by a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. A SaniDry dehumidifier is installed to filter the air and pull out moisture. Lastly, Spray Foam is applied to the foundation walls to air seal and insulate. After this encapsulation is installed, now the crawl space is protected to stay dry and healthy.
