Photo Album: Couldn't Keep Water Out of the Basement and Needed Help- Portland, OR

This homeowner reached out to John's Waterproofing back in 2021 about water seeping in through their basement walls. We informed the homeowner about our basement waterproofing system and they decided to wait it out and see if the issue resolved itself. Unfortunately, in 2025 the same homeowner informed us the issue has only worsened and they were ready to install the waterproofing system. Because the water was seeping through the walls, we first needed to install a proper drainage system that would be able to control the passage of water in the home. This is done by jackhammering a trench along the interior perimeter of the basement where a WaterGuard drainage pipe will go. This pipe sits at the footing of the basement and is lined with gravel for easy water filtration. It has little holes in the back of the pipe that help it to collect water seeping through the walls and directs it to a TripleSafe sump pump. This three pump system is what is actually capable of taking the collected water and pumping it out and away from the homes foundation. It is made with three heavy duty Zoeller pumps to be able to control mass volumes of water at a time. After the drainage system is installed, the WaterGuard gets covered with concrete. In order to protect the walls, we installed a CleanSpace wall vapor barrier. This 20 mil thick liner is made with woven fibers that help protect against water from seeping through. It is even backed by a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. Once this system is installed, the basement will remain dry all year round and the homeowners can safely use the space.
