Photo Album: Water Destroying Crawl Space- Portland, OR

For years, these homeowners were experiencing all the effects caused by the water that was in their crawl space, from humid, musty smells to rodents and poor air quality. They finally decided to give John's a call and transform their crawl space to a dry, healthy, useable space. After our system design specialists performed the free inspection and estimate on this home- he met with the homeowners and went over the best plan to revive this space. They decided encapsulation was the best, and most permanent solution. To begin, we start by removing all the debris, including old fiberglass insulation and damaged vapor barrier. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space in which we lay down a perforated pipe into a silt sock to secure a safe passage for the water to drain to the TripleSafe sump pump placed at the lowest point. We then install a discharge line outside to drain the water away from the foundation. Directly on top of the dirt floor of the crawl space we install our TerraBlock. This will separate the home and the earth creating an insulated barrier. It will also ensure no moisture can make its way up through the crawl space floor. On top of the TerraBlock we install our CleanSpace. This goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and is sealed with our waterproof tape at the footing of the wooden posts. In addition to this we make sure all the vents are then covered to ensure no outside air enters the space. We install our SaniDry Sedona to control the environment. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors as well as keep the space at a healthy relative humidity. This will also promote healthy air throughout the home. Lastly, we install our foam insulation which is sprayed all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists ensuring every crack and void is filled securing an airtight seal. These homeowners can be confident their fully protected crawl space will no longer have water intrusion, rodents, and that their energy costs will lower.
