Photo Album: Encapsulation Transformed this Neglected Crawl Space- Eugene, OR
This crawl space was wet, debris filled, and had rodents all over. Tired of all these issues, the homeowners reached out to John's Waterproofing in hopes of a big transformation. After our system design specialist was done with the free inspection, he sat with the homeowners and went over the plan for this nasty crawl space. After hearing all of the great benefits an encapsulation offers, they decided to move forward with the project. To begin we remove all of the debris, along with the damaged fiberglass insulation and old vapor barrier. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and lay down our 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to secure a safe passage for the water to the SuperSump Plus pump at the lowest point. This will drain to the discharge line that we install outside and will direct the water away from the homes foundation. On the dirt floor of the crawl space, we install our TerraBlock insulation which creates an barrier between the home and the earth that will block out moisture from making its way up through the floor. We then install our CleanSpace system directly on top of the TerraBlock and all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. This 20 mil-thick liner is puncture resistant, and manufactured with a antimicrobial additive called UltraFresh woven right into the material. The bright white finish allows the homeowners to see the crawl space is free of dirt, mold and insects. As a part of this process, we than cover all the vents to make sure no air from the outside enters. To create exterior access into the crawl space, we install our EverLast Door. This door is built to last through any weather conditions. To control the environment, we install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air, while keeping the home at a healthy relative humidity. To finish this project, we install our foam insulation. We spray this all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists making sure every crack and void is filled. Spray foam, unlike traditional fiberglass guarantees an airtight seal. This increases energy efficiency saving a lot of money in the long run. With this new, clean and dry crawl space, these homeowner can now feel peace knowing their home is protected for years to come.
Moisture and Fallen Fiberglass
This crawl space had a lot of standing water, which over time caused a lot of humidity and moisture. The fiberglass insulation got damp and heavy over time, making it sag. This caused it to lose insulation value, which in turn causes the floors in the home to become cold. Rodents also love using fiberglass as nesting material.
Torn Vapor Barrier
While performing the inspection, we saw a hole in the vapor barrier likely made by some pest, and found a lot of moisture making its way up through the crawl space floor.
Sump Pump
This pump will collect the water from the crawl space and drain it via discharge line.
EverLast Door
Our EverLast Door allows exterior access into the crawl space and will withstand any weather conditions.
SaniDry Sedona
This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air, and will keep the crawl space at a healthy relative humidity.
CleanSpace and Spray Foam
This is the fully finished encapsulation. With our Clean Space's 20 mil-thick liner the space is protected from tears and mold growth and our spray foam is perfectly molded to the surface creating an airtight seal, increasing energy efficiency for the entire home.
