Foundation Repair Photo Album: Reinforcement of Bowing Basement Wall - Portland, OR

The owner of this home called on John's after hearing through word-of-mouth that we are the leading Structural Repair Experts in her area. She explained to our Receptionist that 2 of her basement walls had been bowing for many years, and were in need of urgent repair. After assuring the homeowner that she had called the right place, we got her on our schedule. Soon after, our Design Specialist arrived at her home, and performed a thorough inspection of the basement and foundation. His inspections found multiple cracks in the foundation, as well as 2 basement foundation walls in dire need of structural reinforcement. Two of the foundation walls inside the basement were bowing so badly they had pushed the siding away from the home on the outside. The bowing had also caused the floor above the basement to sag in 2 places. The homeowner had suspected the urgency in these repairs, and was grateful to John's for having the necessary knowledge and expertise to help her. She signed her customized Job Proposal, and we got her on our schedule to begin reinforcement of the foundation walls in her basement, and the overhead floor. Our crew of Structural Experts arrived at her home eager and ready to begin! First, they lifted the sagging floor above the basement, by installing Steel SmartJack Piers. SmartJacks are "jacked up" until the floor is once again level. They are highly adjustable, and will remain permanently in place to prevent future sagging of the overhead floors. Next, they addressed the bowing foundation walls inside of the basement. To offer reinforcement to each wall, they began the installation process of our StableLock Foundation Wall System. The StableLock System consists of heavy-duty steel I-Beams, secured by Steel Brackets and Bars that are attached directly onto bowing concrete walls. This Wall System pushes walls back into place, and prevents bowing. After the System was installed onto both walls, and all the heavy-duty steel components were secured, our crew poured concrete into the StableLock Wall forms. The freshly poured concrete wrapped around the I-Beams, and created 2 strong and durable concrete foundation walls. The floor above the basement, as well as the bowing foundation walls of this home have now been professionally reinforced by the Structural Experts here at John's! The installation of our highly effective steel structural repair systems will last the life of this home, offering long-term safety and stability to this family.
