Foundation Repair Photo Album: Repair and Waterproofing of Foundation Wall In Wet Climate - Greenbank, WA
The foundation of this home was surrounded by gutter downspouts, that drained into Splash Blocks to carry rain water only a minimal distance away from the home. Splash Blocks are a great concept, however, they do not carry rain water far enough away from foundations to prevent water damage. This home was subjected to a vast amount of rain each year. Because of the near-constant presence of rain, the foundation of this home had began crumbling in one area, and was at great risk of further, catastrophic water damage to the entirety of the wall supporting the home. In order to protect the foundation from worsening damage, our crew of waterproofing experts installed high-quality, effective solutions.
To protect the structural integrity of the foundation wall, they completed a 2-step process, known as Foundation Filling and Coating. The first step was repairing the portion of the foundation that had crumbled. For this, they removed the crumbled portion, and back-filled it with fresh concrete - creating a strong and intact wall once again. The 2nd step offered added protection, and required sealing the entire foundation wall with a waterproof coating to create a barrier - preventing water damage from affecting the wall. After the foundation wall was repaired, they re-directed all of the rain water expelled out of the gutter downspouts. For this, they attached Piping to the bottom of each downspout, to carry all rain water away from the foundation. This Piping System is called Rain Drain Line, and is buried underground, ending far away from the home. At the end of each Rain Drain Line, our crew attached a LawnScape Outlet, to evenly disperse the water into the lawn. This homeowner also stated that the inside of his home often felt damp and heavy. This made sense, as the family lives in a very wet geographical location in the PNW. A home that feels damp and heavy is not only uncomfortable, it is also dangerous, as those types of sensations indicate unsafe humidity levels, which allow mold to thrive and create a very unsafe breathing environment. To help this family feel more comfortable inside of their home, as well as to protect their health, our crew also installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier inside of their kitchen. This machine will ensure the space maintains a healthy relative humidity by cleaning, and removing moisture, allergens, and toxins from the air. This home, and the family within is now protected from the devastating affects of water and humidity damage. One phone call to our office was all it took to get the ball rolling for this homeowner to have his foundation repaired and protected. Our waterproofing experts take great pride in providing peace of mind to homeowners and families, and we never stop striving to provide WOW service to all customers!
Crumbling Foundation
Years of water damage had caused this portion of the foundation wall to crumble - greatly threatening the integrity of the stability of the home.
Gutter Splash Block
This homeowner was using Splash Blocks to carry water away from his foundation. Unfortunately, Splash Blocks carry water only a short distance away from homes, and do not adequately protect foundations from water damage - especially in very wet geographical locations such as the PNW.
Rain Drain Line
Our crew attached an underground Rain Drain Line to the bottom of each of the 10 gutter downspouts surrounding the home, to carry rain water away from the foundation. At the end of each line, is a LawnScape Outlet to evenly disperse water.
Finished Rain Drain Line
Each of the 10 Rain Drain Lines around the home were buried underground, leaving a nice finished appearance, ready for landscaping.
