Insulation Photo Album: Spray Foam Insulation is the Answer- Snohomish, WA
These homeowners were interested in insulating their crawl space after noticing how cold their floors have been and how much their energy costs have gone up. They called us up and scheduled their free inspection. When our system design specialist was finished with the inspection he met with the homeowner and discussed the best options for this space. After hearing about the benefits and warranties attached, they decided to move forward with the project.
We began by clearing the crawl space out. This crawl space did not have much water so we installed our SmartDrain system. This will alert the homeowner to a possible plumbing leak with an audible alarm and will drain the water into a drywell underneath the CleanSpace until they are able to fix the leak. Next, we install our TerraBlock system, this goes directly on the dirt floor, creating an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace vapor barrier. This goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and is sealed with our waterproof tape at the footing of the wooden posts. Then to control the environment, we install our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This will dry and filter the air, eliminating all the damp and musty smells and ultimately promote clean and healthy air throughout the home. Lastly to ensure an airtight seal, we install our foam insulation. This is sprayed all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and fills every crack and void. These homeowners can be sure their energy costs will lower and that their home is protected for years to come.
Unprotected Crawl Space
This unprotected environment was the perfect place for rodents and pests to thrive. All the open vents were allowing moisture to enter, damaging the barrier and causing a lot of musty smells and zero protection for the home.
Fiberglass Insulation
This crawl space had piles of fiberglass insulation all over the place. It had no insulation value as soon as it fell to the floor, fiberglass absorbs moisture and the water weight pulls it down.
SmartDrain System
This is our SmartDrain system. It will alert the homeowner of a possible plumbing leak with an audible alarm, and will drain the water to a drywell underneath the crawl space until the homeowner can fix the leak.
Spray Foam Insulation
Spray foam helps to keep the home insulated and even helps the energy bills lower since it can fill every crack and void, unlike traditional fiberglass insulation.
