Homeowners called John's Waterproofing after noticing a bit of water collecting beneath their porch. We sent one of our design specialists to take a closer look and see what we could do. During the inspection, we found that a faulty rain drain had nowhere to properly direct collected water, allowing it to drain directly into the soil near the porch. We also found that the crawl space vapor barrier was torn, dirty, and due for a replacement to better protect the space from ground moisture. After discussing our findings and going over several options, the homeowners chose a solution that will redirect the water elsewhere, freshen up the crawl space, and stay within their budget.

The crawl space received a full interior drain system with a sump pump, paired with a fresh new 6-mil vapor barrier, replacing the old, worn-out material and providing a cleaner layer of protection against moisture. Outside, the faulty rain drain was replaced and paired with a LawnScape Outlet in the yard, allowing collected water to be discharged away from the home, rather than pooling by the porch. The homeowners now have a cleaner crawl space and a better way to keep rainwater away!
