Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Waterproofing With New Access - Salem, OR
The owners of this home were concerned when they noticed standing water and dead rodents in their crawl space, as well as a nasty odor coming into their home. These unsettling discoveries prompted them to call on us for help! Our Receptionist got them on our schedule, and our Design Specialist arrived at their home, eager to offer solutions. After inspecting the crawl space, he confirmed the presence of standing water and many dead rodents, as well as a substantial amount of rodent feces. He also found that the original wooden access door was not sealed to prevent rodents from entering. He thoughtfully explained to the homeowner, that the combination of rodents and standing water, had created an unhealthy air environment not only within the crawl space, but also inside of the home. This is because 40% of the air inside of your home, comes from the crawl space beneath your feet. To achieve a dry and healthy crawl space and be budget friendly, he recommended installing our Pipe, Pump, Plastic Waterproofing System inside of the space, to catch and expel all water intrusion. The homeowners understood the urgency in having their crawl space and access door updated, so they signed their custom Job Proposal, and the job was scheduled.
When our crew arrived at the home, their first step was removing all of the nasty debris inside of the space. With the crawl space now clean, they installed our Pipe, Pump, Plastic System beneath this home, as well as a new Turtl Access Door. Installing the Waterproofing System in the crawl space involves placing 3" Perforated Piping around the entire interior perimeter of the space, to catch the groundwater. Once water is collected in the Piping, it will be routed to an UltraSump Pump, which will expel all of the water safely away from the home via a discharge line. Directly on top of the Piping, our crew laid down 6 Mil Black Plastic Vapor Barrier, to prevent moisture and vapors from leeching through the ground. Next, they removed the old wooden access door, and replaced it with a custom-cut Turtl Access Door. The Turtl is made of rigid plastic, that will never rot or discolor, and has a downward latching Lid with an air-tight seal that will make all types of intrusion into the crawl space at this point impossible. The Turtl is weather resistant, and the lid can be locked using a pad lock, if desired. Thanks to the installation of the Pipe, Pump, Plastic System, as well as the Turtl Access Door, this crawl space is now protected from the terrible affects of standing water and the rodent access point has been mitigated. These homeowners can now enjoy healthier air inside of their home, as well as peace of mind that no more water will be festering beneath their feet.
