This homeowner was focused on protecting the long-term investment of his home, as well as the health of his family, so when he heard about crawl space encapsulation, he gave his leading, local experts at John's a call. We like to make things quick and easy for our customers, so that they can get back to their daily lives. Our Design Specialist arrived at his home, and after performing a thorough inspection of the crawl space, he began discussing an encapsulation with the homeowner. The homeowner was thrilled that our Design Specialist was so knowledgeable, and that John's had over 50 years of expertise in the waterproofing industry, so he rightfully entrusted us with his encapsulation! When our crew arrived, they got straight to work. First, they removed all of the old crawl space debris, leaving a clean slate for the installation of the encapsulation components. To cover the entirety of the dirt floor inside of the space, we laid down TerraBlock ground insulation, providing a durable, walkable surface, while also creating an insulated space. On top of the TerraBlock, we laid our 20 Mil CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, preventing any ground moisture from entering the crawl space. CleanSpace is interlaced with carbon fibers, making it incredibly strong, and allowing it to come with a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. Its bright white appearance transforms dark, dirty crawl spaces into welcoming areas that can also be safely used as dry storage. To prevent water intrusion from ever being able to cause damage, we installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump at the lowest point inside of the space, to immediately pump all water safely away from the home via an underground discharge line. At the end of the discharge line, we attached a LawnScape Outlet, to evenly disperse the water into the lawn. Our TripleSafe Sump Pump is a 3-pump-in-1 system. The 3rd and final pump is battery-operated, so that even in the event of a power outage, it will not lose its ability to function. To ensure safe and healthy air quality at all times, we also installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This machine prevents mold growth, and removes moisture and allergens from the air. This crawl space had 8 original vents, so we covered each one with a rigid plastic cover, to prevent rodents and debris from entering. The final step was installing the SilverGlo insulation onto the foundation walls. SilverGlo is much more effective than standard insulation boards, saving homeowners on energy costs. It is waterproof, air-tight, and graphite-infused with a radiant barrier, to reflect heat back into the walls. It prevents water from entering the crawl space through the foundation walls, and will never rot or disintegrate.
