Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation Providing Peace of Mind - Everett, WA
An encapsulated crawl space benefits the homeowners in many ways. Not only does it create a clean, dry storage area, it also improves the air quality inside of your home, and protect the longevity of structural components. These homeowners called on John's, eager to have their crawl space encapsulated to protect the health of their family and home. After our Design Specialist visited their home, and performed a thorough crawl space inspection, he wrote out the repair plan, detailing the cost and installation process. The homeowners were pleased, signed their proposal, and was scheduled.
Our crew of waterproofing experts arrived at the home, and began doing what they do best - protecting families and homes from the devastating affects of water damage. First, they removed all of the nasty debris, creating a clean crawl space. To ensure that all groundwater is addressed, we install a drain system along the interior perimeter, channeling water to a SuperSump Pump at the lowest point, expelling all water safely away from the home via a Rain Drain Line. At the end of which, we attached a LawnScape Outlet, to evenly disperse all collected water into the lawn. Next, they laid down TerraBlock ground insulation to cover the entire dirt floor inside of the space. TerraBlock creates a sturdy, walkable surface, and prevents heat loss through the ground. Directly on top of the TerraBlock, as well as up onto the walls, we laid down our 20 Mil thick, carbon fiber infused, CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, to prevent moisture from entering the space. CleanSpace is highly durable, and comes with a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. It is bright and white, and effectively transforms crawl spaces into clean, enjoyable areas that can be safely used as dry storage. To permanently sustain a safe air quality both inside of the space, as well as inside the home, we installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier in the crawl space. This machine will run continuously, to remove moisture, toxins, and allergens from the air. It is fully ducted, and drains into the SuperSump Pump, allowing it to operate automatically, with no input needed from the homeowners. To seal the outside of the space, our crew covered each of the original vents with a rigid plastic cover - preventing rodents and debris from entering. The original access into this crawl space was made of wood, and had gaps around the edges, which had allowed rodents and debris to enter the space for many years. To prevent crawl space invasion in the future, we installed a custom EverLast Access Door. Our EverLast Access Doors are made of highly-durable, weather resistant plastic that will never rot or discolor. The final step in an Encapsulation, is installing Spray Foam insulation onto the foundation walls, preventing vapor, air, and thermals from entering the space. This crawl space is now fully encapsulated, providing this family with a home they can thrive in for many, many years to come. The peace of mind that comes from knowing that the long-term investment of your home is protected, as well as the health of your loved ones, is invaluable.
