Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation - Camano Island, WA
This homeowner called on John's after he heard about the many benefits of crawl space encapsulation. When our Design Specialist arrived at his home, he greeted the homeowner with respect, and performed a thorough inspection of the crawl space. Inside the space, he found hanging insulation, and a dirty vapor barrier - which are both evidence of water intrusion and high humidity, as well as rodent feces. He kindly explained to the homeowner that these are all common findings inside of crawl spaces, and create a dangerous air environment not only beneath the home, but inside of it as well. This is because 40% of the air inside of your home, comes from your crawl space. Therefore, a crawl space with water and/or rodent intrusion, is very dangerous to the health of you and your loved ones. The homeowner stated that he understood, and that this is exactly why he chose to protect himself and his family by hiring the experts at John's to encapsulate his crawl space!
We scheduled a crew of waterproofing experts to complete the job. When they arrived, they got right to it - beginning by removing all of the old crawl space debris, leaving a nice clean area for all of the encapsulation materials to be efficiently installed. Next, they covered the dirt floor of the crawl space with our TerraBlock foam padding, to insulate the ground, and create a sturdy, walkable surface. Directly on top of the TerraBlock, as well as up onto the walls, they installed our highly durable, 20 Mil thick CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, to prevent any moisture from entering the space. CleanSpace is bright and white, and transforms formerly nasty crawl spaces into clean, welcoming areas, that can be safely used as dry storage. For added protection, CleanSpace is interlaced with carbon fibers, and even comes with a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. In the event that any water enters the space, our crew installed a SmartDrain, which will immediately sound off a loud alarm if water is ever detected. This crawl space management tool offers homeowners absolute peace of mind against water intrusion, or the event of an unexpected plumbing leak. It is battery-operated, allowing it to maintain its functionality even during power outages. In order to ensure a safe air quality at all times, our crew also installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier inside of the space. To deter rodents and prevent debris from entering into the space, our crew sealed all exterior openings. Each vent was sealed shut with a rigid plastic cover, and we installed an EverLast Access Door in the place of the original entryway. Our EverLast Doors are custom-cut, and made of rigid plastic that will never rot or discolor. When shut, they leave no gaps along the edges, making it impossible for rodents to enter. The final step in sealing this crawl space, was the installation of Spray Foam Insulation onto the foundation walls. It will last the life of the home, and can easily save homeowners up to 40% per year on heating and cooling costs. This crawl space is now completely sealed, and equipped with the highest quality components. After this encapsulation was complete, our Customer Satisfaction Specialist reached out to the homeowner to ensure he had a positive experience. He stated that everything went perfectly, and all crew members were nice and friendly. This was music to our ears, as we take great pride in providing WOW service to all of our customers!
