Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Transforming a Huge Crawl Space in Woodburn, OR
This crawl space was full of water and the homeowners wanted to find a solution that not only addresses the water that is entering, but the problems that the water caused. The space had a damaged vapor barrier covered with dirt and debris, and overhead, the fiberglass had begun to sag and fall onto the floor where rodent activity was evident. It was time to find a permanent solution, so they gave us a call and we went out to thoroughly inspect the crawl space. We made sure to make photos of all of the findings to discuss with the homeowners. We work together in creating the best plan to address all of these issues and agreed that encapsulation was the best solution. We went ahead and scheduled their project and began.
Before we began waterproofing, we installed out Turtl system that creates exterior access into the crawl space. We then move onto removing all of the debris including the vapor barrier and fiberglass insulation. Next, we address mold, by spot treating with Mold-X2. Due to all of the water intrusion, there was significant damage to many of the wooden posts so we replace them with our adjustable steel piers, SmartJacks, to offer strong and stable support. These can also be adjusted over the years as needed. We then dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space in which we install a 3 inch perforated pipe into silt sock to create a direct passage for water to drain to the lowest point. At this low point we install our TripleSafe sump to collect all of the water that enters and pump it outside of the home via discharge line. Next, we cover all of the vents to prevent outside air from entering. On the dirt floor of the crawl space we install our TerraBlock system which will act as an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. Over top of the entire TerraBlock system we install our 20 mil thick liner, CleanSpace, sealing it in place with our waterproof heavy duty tape. On the foundation walls we anchor the CleanSpace liner. Then, to keep the home at a healthy relative humidity we install our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This effective system will also eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air. Finally to finish this full encapsulation, we install our SilverGlo wall system into the foundation walls which will not only insulate the crawl space but will help lower the homes heating and cooling costs. Now that this project is complete these homeowners can have peace of mind for years to come.
