Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Nasty Crawl Space Transformation in Eugene, OR
This crawl space was in very rough shape and began to cause a lot of issues that worried these homeowners. One of their biggest concerns was the foul musty odors that were especially strong during the rainy seasons. Knowing that a crawl space in this state was in need of a reliable solution, they reached out to us and and scheduled their free visit. We went out and thoroughly inspected every inch of this crawl space and found a lot of issues. We then met with the homeowner to review these problems and discuss the game plan to create a dry, healthy and stable crawl space. After reviewing the estimate they scheduled their project and we began.
To begin, we cleaned up the crawl space, removing all of the debris, old fiberglass insulation and the vapor barrier. Next, we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and in it we placed a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to help create a secure passage for water to drain to the lowest point. At the low point we install our SuperSump Plus system to collect any water that enters and pumps it outside through a discharge line. Outside of the home, connected to the discharge line, we installed our LawnScape Outlet which is a grated drain that keeps out debris while allowing water to pass through. We then made sure to cover all of the vents to prevent outside air from entering. The homeowners wanted access into the crawl space from the exterior so a exterior accessway was cut and we installed our EverLast door. Our TerraBlock system was then installed onto the dirt floor to create an insulated barrier between the home and the earth, blocking out moisture. After which, we installed our CleanSpace liner overtop, sealing it at the footing of the wooden posts. We also anchored this 20 mil thick liner into the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. To keep the environment controlled and healthy we installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to eliminate damp and musty odors effectively by drying and filtering the air. This dehumidifier will keep the home at a healthy relative humidity. To finish this crawl space we installed our SilverGlo wall system into the foundation walls, up to the rim joists to help insulate. With this finished encapsulation, we completely transformed this crawl space from, nasty, wet and rodent filled into a dry, healthy and stable space that benefits not only the home but the occupents too.
