Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Upgrading a Neglected Crawl Space in Canby, OR
These homeowners were dealing with musty odors for some time and did not know where it was coming from so they gave us a call and scheduled their free estimate. We went out and meticulously inspected this crawl space and found many issues that have been causing these strong odors. After taking photos of all of the findings, we met with the homeowners and went over the best way to bring this crawl space back to life. We went over the benefits of a full encapsulation system and they moved forward with the project.
We began by removing all of the debris, including all of the fallen fiberglass insulation and the damaged vapor barrier. We then make sure all of the vents are covered and sealed shut to prevent outside air from entering. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space in which we install a 3 inch perforated pipe into silt sock that creates a secure passage for water to drain to the lowest point. At this low point we install our TripleSafe system which collects all of the water that enters and pumps it outside of the home through a discharge line. On top of the dirt floor, we install our TerraBlock system. This creates an insulated barrier between the home and the earth and blocks moisture from making its way up. Our CleanSpace line goes between every post and footing as well as over the entire TerraBlock system and is sealed at each footing with our heavy duty waterproof tape. To keep the environment controlled and address the musty odors, we install our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to eliminate damp odors by drying and filtering the air and keep the home at a healthy relative humidity. Lastly we install our SilverGlo system, this will help insulate the crawl space as well as the home itself. With this finished encapsulation system these homeowners do not have to worry about water issues beneath their home.
