Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Foul Odors Coming From Crawl Space- Gates, OR
These homeowners had noticed a strong foul odor in their home and began to investigate where it could possibly be coming from. After searching all over, they found that it was likely coming from their crawl space. After reading up on solutions online, they were interested in encapsulation so they gave us a call and we went out for a free visit. We thoroughly inspected this tight crawl space and created a game plan that works best in addressing all of the issues found. After going over the plan with the homeowners they decided to move forward and we began the project. First, we removed all of the debris, including the old fiberglass insulation and old vapor barrier. Since this crawl space did not have much of a water issue, we install our SmartDrain system which will alert the homeowner of a possible leak with an audible alarm and will drain the leak to a drywell underneath the CleanSpace. All the vents are then covered and sealed shut to prevent outside air from entering. Over top of the dirt floor, we install our TerraBlock system that acts as an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the whole TerraBlock system we install our CleanSpace. This 20 mil thick liner is placed between the wooden posts and the footing as well as anchored into the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. This material's white finish brighten up the space and helps the homeowners see the crawl space is free of dirt, debris and unwanted pests. We then install our EverLast Door to create a safe exterior access into the crawl space. To keep the environment controlled, we install our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This system effectively eliminates damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air and will keep the home at a healthy relative humidity. Lastly we finish this project with our SilverGlo wall system which is anchored into the foundation walls and serves as insulation. Now with this finished encapsulation system in place these homeowners don't have to worry about any odors entering their home.
