Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: A Second Chance for this Crawl Space in Eugene, OR
When a crawl space is in poor condition, it can go unnoticed for quite sometime since below grade spaces are usually out of sight and out of mind. These homeowners reached out to us after noticing that they were having problems with musty odors and rodents. We went out and performed a thorough inspection and found a tight, dirty crawl space with rodent droppings, puddles of standing water, fallen fiberglass insulation and more. After, we met with the homeowners and discussed the findings, we worked on the best game plan to find them permanent solutions to the problems.
We start by removing all of the debris, including all of the fiberglass insulation and the old vapor barrier. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and in that trench we install a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to create a secure passage for water to drain to the lowest point of the crawl space. At this low point, we install our SuperSump system that will collect all of the water that enters the crawl space and pump it outside of the home through a discharge line. Outside of the home, we also connect our LawnScape outlet, which is a grated drain that allows water to pass through while keeping debris out of the discharge line. We seal all of the vents to keep rodents and the elements from entering the crawl space. We then install our EverLast door to create a safe and reliable exterior accessway into the crawl space. Our TerraBlock insulation system is next, this is made to be installed onto dirt floors and helps block moisture. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system. This is our 20 mil thick liner that is going to protect the crawl space from odors, humidity, mold and mildew. It is also anchored into the foundation walls and in between every post and its footing. It is all then sealed with our heavy duty CleanSpace tape. We want to keep the environment controlled, so we install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air to keep the home at a healthy relative humidity. Finally to finish, along the foundation walls we install our SilverGlo Wall system that will insulate the walls and home itself. Now that this crawl space is fully encapsulated, these homeowners don't have to worry about any unpleasant odors coming into their home and can have peace of mind knowing their home is protected for years to come.
