Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Transforming an Unprotected Crawl Space- Eugene, OR
Crawl spaces with open vents and unprotected dirt floors are often the ones that cause the most issues for homeowners. Water ends up entering and causing high levels of humidity which attracts rodents, pests and creates health hazards for the occupants above. These homeowners reached out to us looking for a solution to transform their crawl space. We sent out one of our system design specialists to thoroughly inspect the space and come up with the best game plan.
We began this project by removing all of the debris, including the fiberglass insulation and old vapor barrier. Next, we dig an access on the exterior of the crawl space to install our Turtl, creating an exterior access point into the crawl space that can be locked. Great for future maintenances. We then dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and in this trench we install a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to create a passage for water to drain to the lowest point. At this low point, we install our SuperSump Plus that will collect all of the water that enters and pump it outside of the home through a discharge line. Since there were many open vents, we make sure to cover and seal them shut. We then address the dirt floor of this crawl space by installing our 750 Mil thick TerraBlock insulation that will help block moisture from making its way up through the floor. Our 20 Mil thick CleanSpace liner is then installed on top of the TerraBlock system creating a bright white finishing that will help the homeowners easily see that their crawl space is free of dirt, debris, mold and rodents. To keep the environment controlled, we then install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air all while keeping the home at a healthy relative humidity. Lastly, we finish this project by anchoring our SilverGlo system into the foundation walls to help raise the R-value and keep the home well insulated. Now that this crawl space is transformed, these homeowners can have peace of mind knowing that their home is now dry, healthy and stable.
