Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Big Crawl Space Transformation in Scappose, OR

These homeowners noticed that their crawl space was filthy and full of debris and were interested in the benefits of an encapsulation. They wanted to create a safe extra space for storage, so they reached out to John's for a free visit. We went out and thoroughly inspected the crawl space and then met with the homeowners to walk them the findings and discuss the best game plan for this crawl space. We worked with the owners to design their encapsulation system. This system will reduces energy costs, improves air quality in the home, prevent mold and mildew, and deter rodents and pests from entering.  We begin by removing the old barrier along with all of the debris. Then, since there was not much water, we install our SmartDrain. This system will alert the homeowner of a possible leak with an audible alarm and will drain it to a drywell underneath the CleanSpace. To begin sealing the space, we make sure that all of the vents in this crawl space are covered and sealed. Next, we install our TerraBlock system onto the dirt floor for insulation, separating the home from the earth. We then lift every wooden post and install our CleanSpace liner between the post and the footing. This 20 mil thick vapor barrier is also placed directly on top of the TerraBlock system and is sealed with our heavy duty CleanSpace Tape. To keep the environment controlled, we installed our SaniDry Sedona. This is our effective dehumidifier that will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air and keep the home at a healthy relative humidity. To complete the systems insulation we install SilverGlo onto the foundation walls, air sealing around this with spray foam. The access point was than upgraded with an EverLast access door, which secures to the entrance. Now that the project is finished with this full encapsulation, these homeowners have a clean, dry, healthy and stable crawl space they can use as extra storage.
