Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Nasty Crawl Space in Need of Attention- Waldport, OR
Most crawl spaces tend to have open vents which bring in water, rodents and pests that all then lead to even bigger problems. Water that enters and has no where to go just remains stagnant until it evaporates and becomes a cycle, damaging the vapor barrier and bringing moisture and humidity up into the living area. Additionally, rodents thrive in a humid dark space and leave droppings creating a unpleasant and strong odor that circulates up into the home. These homeowners were wanting to find a real solution that would address all of these issues while staying within their spending budget. We went out and thoroughly inspected this crawl space and came up with the best options for these homeowners. First, we begin by removing all of the debris, damaged vapor barrier and fiberglass insulation. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and in it we install a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to secure a safe passage for water to drain to the lowest point. Then, at this low point we install our TripleSafe Sump System which will gather all of the water that enters and pumps it outside of the home through a discharge line. Lastly, we install our 6 mil black plastic barrier in the crawl space to protect against ground moisture. Now with this system in place these homeowners know standing water will not occur and they can feel peace of mind and down the line can easily transition into a full system.
