One day, the homeowners came across an ad for John's Waterproofing's free crawl space inspections. Since they had never been down into their crawl space, they figured it was time to have it checked and help protect the longevity of their home. They gave us a call to schedule an inspection, and our customer service team promptly responded. When the day came, our Design Specialists arrived at the home. Walking around the exterior, our team noticed several damaged vents that had made for easy entry for rodents to get into the crawl space. Once they went under, they found an even bigger problem. Fiberglass insulation and clear signs of a rodent infestation. It seemed that the homeowners had some unexpected rodents right under their feet! Fiberglass insulation is commonly installed in crawl spaces and attics, but it traps moisture and mold while also creating the perfect spot for rodents to build nests and breed. We discussed our findings with the homeowners, and we decided on a plan to address their crawl space issues without putting a dent in their wallet. The project included removing all debris and insulation, then installing heavy-duty Vent Screens and Hardware Cloth. Our crew also installed a Perf Pipe, TripleSafe sump pump, and discharge lines to redirect water out of the crawl space and away from the home's foundation. This stops water from puddling in the crawl space, puddles will attract rodents who enjoy a musty space. Lastly, a 6-mil vapor barrier was anchored over the Hardware Cloth to trap moisture in the soil and keep it from rising into the crawl space.
