Within this home a problem was lurking underfoot. Water had left old fiberglass insulation drooping from the subfloor. Pieces lay overtop the old 6 Mil vapor barrier, along with dirt. The homeowners were concerned as their energy bills had been going up, to address the problem head on, they contacted John's Waterproofing. Upon inspection, the Design Specialist found excess water puddling along the exterior of the home, adding hydrostatic pressure to the foundation. To protect the home and the occupants, we recommended a full encapsulation.  To begin, our crew arrived and cleared the space of the old vapor barrier, debris, and fiberglass. We than placed a perforated pipe around the interior perimeter of the crawl space. Water collects within this and moves to the low point to a TripleSafe sump pump. The water than flows through a discharge line away from the foundation. Following this we fit TerraBlock insulation along the dirt floor and layer CleanSpace overtop. This is a 20 Mil thick vapor barrier with fibers woven through it. This material seals the crawl space away from the dirt and elements. Along the foundation walls we apply spray foam to insulate and air seal. Each vent is fully sealed shut and we complete the project with a dehumidifier to address excess moisture in the air. With this project completed, the owners can reap the benefits of a dry, stable, and healthy crawl space all year round.
