Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Full Crawl Space Encapsulation in Friday Harbor, OR
The homeowners complained that their home was getting much warmer than usual and scheduled an inspection with John's. Our Design Specialist gave them the rundown of what was found and they collaborated on a full encapsulation.
To start the project off, the crew removed all insulation including hanging fiberglass, teared up plastic vapor barrier, debris, and critter droppings. Next, we installed the Perf Pipe along the perimeter in a trench we dig out. This Perf Pipe is to collect all water and flow it down to the new sump pump; the SuperSump Plus. This will pump it outside of the crawl space from the new discharge line to the fresh LawnSpace outlet, transferring water a safe distance from the home. Following this, we securely insert the TerraBlock. This is a durable, long lasting, insulation that keeps moisture away from seeping its way through the dirt. On top of the TerraBlock, we lay down CleanSpace to permanently separate the house and the ground. Next, we cover vents and add an EverLast door to help keep outside air out of the crawl space. Spray foam insulation is then applied along the foundation walls. Spray foam fills every space and void with an 100% air seal. Cold, warm, and moist air is now unable to penetrate its away inside. Lastly, to condition the space, we installed a powerful SaniDry Sedona. This is the world's most efficient dehumidifier that can keep the humidity in the interior crawl space a healthy level. It eliminates any damp odors and keeps the air dry.
Drooping Fiberglass
The crawl space is covered in hanging fiberglass and ripped plastic vapor barrier, exposing the earth. This is some of the factors resulting in a high humidity crawl space.
Exposed Entry and Vents
The exposed and open entry to the crawl space and vents are welcoming in unwanted rodents, insects, and outside air. It creates a high humidity environment seeping into the house.
Newly Installed Sump Pump
This is the brand new SuperSump Plus that collects pumps, and redirects all water.
New Discharge Line
The water within the sump pump flows into the new discharge line that runs all the way outside, far from the house.
