Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Messy Crawl Space in Coupeville, WA
These homeowners had quite the mess in their crawl space and basement and were hoping John's Waterproofing could repair it. When our Design Specialist inspected it, they found damp dirt floors, lack of a vapor barrier, sagging fiberglass, moldy subfloors, and the earth was exposed in multiple spots. All of this led to unsafe levels of humidity and an abundant amount of water allowed in. To save this house, together they came up with a plan.
Our crew started removing all fiberglass and debris. Next, the crew installed a perf pipe along the perimeter to collect all groundwater leading it to the lowest point in the crawl space, and the SuperSump. This sump pump will work wonders to pump all accumulated water out of the house through the discharge line. In the basement, they installed a WaterGuard waterproofing system that is the best quality piping system to collect all water specifically in the basement. To control the water from the exterior doorway of the basement, we installed a TrenchDrain. This water also is guided to the sump pump to be addressed. Back to the crawl space, we installed TerraBlock insulation that is engineered for dirt floors to combat the specific needs of the crawl space, like protection from moisture. TerraBlock is a long lasting durable foam insulation. Next, we drill in CleanSpace to line over the TerraBlock and permanently separate the home from the exposed earth. Moving on, Spray Foam is applied on the foundation walls to replace the messy, drooping, moisture prone fiberglass with the modern closed-cell spray foam. Spray Foam blocks out outside air from penetrating the barrier and is filled in every space and void. There is an 100% air seal that increases energy efficiency and noise blocking, making the insulation improvement that will last the life of the home. Finally, a heavy duty SaniDry Sedona was installed to keep humidity down during all seasons. It will dry and filter the air flowing in the crawl space and work as the world's most efficient high performance dehumidifier. The key to having healthy indoor air is a sealed and conditioned space so odors and mold won't stand a chance against it. John's finished the waterproofed crawl space and basement and the owners no longer have to worry about underneath their house becoming a mess again!
Before Photo
This crawl space was messy and contains sagging fiberglass, begging to be restored.
Hanging Fiberglass
The fiberglass is not beneficial to homes. The droopiness is working against this crawl space and is in need of a durable insulation.
Damp Dirt Floors
This before photo shows off the exposed earth and damp dirt seeping in from the lack of vapor barrier. Moisture is being welcomed into the crawl space with leads to high humidity levels.
SuperSump
The SuperSump sump pump is freshly installed and lined with CleanSpace. This will collect the water and pump through the discharge line, exiting the house.
TrenchDrain
The TrenchDrain is installed on exterior of the house, ready to collect any water and drain through the sump pump system. This will result in zero flooding and water damage.
Spray Foam
This is sprayed onto the foundation walls as insulation, keeping out moisture and warm air.
CleanSpace
This white sleek liner is CleanSpace. It completely blocks out dirt and mold while assisting with lower humidity and heating costs.
After Photo
This is the completed crawl space that is fully waterproofed and clean. Say goodbye to high humidity and unwanted water!
SaniDry Sedona
The powerful dehumidifier is sucking in damp air and releasing dry and filtered air, creating a healthy crawl space with a healthy relative humidity.
