Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: From DIY to Done Right - Terrebonne, OR
Little did these homeowners know that every time it rained, water flooded the crawl space of their home. When musty smells began to waft throughout the home, the homeowners decided to reach out to John's Waterproofing. We scheduled one of our Design Specialists to the scene to check what was going on down below. A torn, dirty vapor barrier, standing water, mud, and a DIY sump pump made out of a utility bucket were all discovered. We discussed these findings with the homeowners and together created a plan best fit to waterproof their home while remaining in a reasonable budget.
First things first, every bit of debris was removed in order to dig a trench along the interior perimeter of the crawl space. In that trench, a Perf Pipe was inserted to collect and divert water. Next up was the eviction of the makeshift sump pump and the replacement with a brand new SuperSump Plus to take the excess water and pump it out of the home. In the yard, a LawnScape Outlet was installed, connected to the sump pump with a discharge line. A LawnScape Outlet is a drainage system that sits flush with the yard and expels the water from the crawl space back into the earth but far from the home's foundation. Lastly, a fresh 6-Mil vapor barrier was placed along the dirt floor to not only give the crawl space a cleaner look, but also trap groundwater from rising into the crawl space. With the excess water taken care of, the homeowners could finally enjoy their home to the fullest, thanks to John's Waterproofing.
Dirty, Torn Vapor Barrier
The existing vapor barrier was damaged and covered in dirt, no longer able to protect the crawl space from moisture.
DIY Sump Pump
A utility bucket was being used in an attempt to temporarily pump water out of the home, but it just wasn't enough to keep up with the amount of water entering the crawl space. This home needed a permanent solution.
SuperSump Plus
A SuperSump Plus was installed to provide reliable and long-term protection from water intrusion, redirecting water safely away from the home.
Pipe, Pump, and Plastic
We installed a Perf Pipe and a 6-Mil plastic vapor barrier to help control groundwater, along with a SuperSump Plus to efficiently pump collected water out and away from the home.
