Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Buried in Mud - Newport, OR

The Design Specialist had quite the surprise when they found out they had to swim in mud to inspect the crawl space. These homeowner's crawl space had layers and layers of mud that made this crawl space the ultimate safety hazard. It was affecting the state of their home and little did they know, many more problems were occurring underneath the mud.  Our crew came as soon as possible to begin this renovation. They removed all water, and excess dirt to make it possible to repair the crawl space. Once dry, the other problems were revealed. The subfloors and foundation were suffering, the humidity levels were extreme, and everything was poorly affected from the exposure to both mud and water. They began this repair we installed a perforated pipe around the perimeter of the crawl space, gathering water to flow towards the low point. This is were the TripleSafe is installed, the finest sump pump that contains 3 pumps to handle any level of water. The water will be pumped out of the house through a connected discharge line. The sinking foundation of the house is a major concern and we install SmartJacks to fix it. These are steel posts with high capacity and are adjustable to raise the floor back to where it originally was. This removed any chance for sagging or rotting. For insulation, we first used TerraBlock for the dirt floors. This includes a puncture resistant design to block out moisture and to avoid tearing. It will fight specific needs for this crawl space and make sure the floors stay protected. Over the TerraBlock, we lay CleanSpace to separate the house from the ground. It will provide a clean look for the crawl space while controlling humidity, staying mold free, and is vapor proof. Next, we put in vent covers to stop welcoming in outside air as well as anything else from entering. Same goes for the brand new EverLast Door, that covers the crawl space entry and provides a safe and easy access point. Any air from outside will be sealed off and incapable of coming inside. To insulate the foundation walls, we use Spray Foam. Spray Foam fills every crevice and void with an 100% air seal. The final step to save this crawl space is to add our heavy duty dehumidifier, the SaniDry Sedona. This is the world's most efficient high performance dehumidifier that gets more water out of the air for less electricity. Working every season, the air will be dry and filtered, no longer worrying about unsafe levels of humidity. John's finished the job and now the crawl space is fully waterproofed, mud proofed, insulated, floor supported, and contains safe humidity levels. The homeowners are able to use the crawl space for storage and live in their home without risk.
