Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Complete Crawl Space Makeover - Bend, OR
One day, while surfing the internet, homeowners came across an advertisement for John's Waterproofing. Though they felt they weren't experiencing any issues in their home, they decided to reach out for a free inspection. When one of our Design Specialists came out to the home, they noticed a ripped and dirty vapor barrier. It was no longer providing the protection it was supposed to, as small signs of water intrusion were evident. Our team discussed the findings with the homeowners, and a plan was created. The homeowners decided on a full encapsulation to take preventative measure of keeping their home dry, stable, and healthy.
The project started with the removal of the dirty vapor barrier. Next, a trench was dug along the interior perimeter where a Perf Pipe was installed. Connected to the Perf Pipe was the addition of a Super Sump Plus sump pump. After that, TerraBlock, a thick foam insulation, was laid across the dirt floor, as well as a CleanSpace 20-mil vapor barrier anchored on top. To complete the sealing of the crawl space, SilverGlo wall panels were installed along the foundation to radiate heat back into the space, while also directing any intruding water down to the Perf Pipe. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed, automatically maintaining humidity levels to ensure no mold can grow and promoting healthier air throughout the home. Little did the homeowners know that, through a simple act of curiosity, they just saved their home for years to come.
Before: Crawl Space
A look at the musty crawl space before the new encapsulation was installed.
Damaged and Dirty Vapor Barrier
The old vapor barrier was dirty, damaged, and no longer providing the needed crawl space protection.
SuperSump Plus Installation
Installed in a hole at the lowest point of the crawl space, a Super Sump Plus. The Perf Pipe collects water and directs it to the pump for removal.
SilverGlo
SilverGlo wall panels were installed along the crawl space walls. These panels are impregnated with graphite to help insulate and protect the space.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
This heavy-duty 20-mil vapor barrier completely seals the crawlspace from moisture, outside air, rodents, and pests, which helps keep the space clean and protected.
SaniDry Sedona
The SaniDry Sedona automatically maintains a 55% relative humidity level in the crawl space, making it an environment mold doesn't want to grow in and keeping moisture under control.
After: Crawl Space Encapsulation
TerraBlock was installed underneath the CleanSpace vapor barrier to add insulation, while the CleanSpace vapor barrier seals the crawl space off from moisture
