This home had a lot going on downstairs. Musty odors, moisture, and rodents were finding their way into the crawl space through the exterior vents. Three of the home's support posts were lifting and no longer properly supporting the home above. The space was humid, covered in debris, and in serious need of attention. The homeowner reached out to John's Waterproofing, and we worked with them to create the best plan for restoring the crawl space. When our crew went underneath the home, we started by removing all the debris, old insulation, and existing vapor barrier. We then replaced the faulty support posts with SmartJacks to provide the home with the support it needed. A SmartDrain was also installed to capture minor leaks and alert the homeowners if water entered the space from a plumbing leak. To begin the encapsulation, we covered the exterior vents with heavy-duty vent covers to help keep out rodents and unwanted outside air. Next, TerraBlock insulation was laid across the dirt floor, followed by CleanSpace vapor barrier. Our crew then applied Spray Foam along the foundation walls, sealing up gaps and hard-to-reach areas while also helping insulate the crawl space and improve heating and cooling efficiency in the home above. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to automatically maintain relative humidity levels around 55%, helping create a cleaner and drier crawl space while removing the risk of mold growth and wood rot. Together, these solutions transformed the space into the ultimate encapsulated crawl space.
