Then, we move onto the Smart Drain. This specific crawl space had no history or signs of standing water damage, so we only added a SmartDrain. This system is a plumbing leak system that will alert the homeowner if a leak occurs with an audible alarm. The water will drain into a dry well under the CleanSpace until the plumbing leak can be fixed. Next, we installed TerraBlock on top of the dirt floors. This insulation is durable, long lasting, and will combat specific needs for the crawl space. It will protect the interior from moisture and has a puncture resistant design. TerraBlock will keep the energy bills low and prevent further crawl space issues from arising. We line the TerraBlock with CleanSpace, a thick 20 mil white liner. After we laid out the CleanSpace, we moved onto how outside air and debris was entering the interior. Most crawl spaces have exterior vents surrounding the area and without the correct protection, it is an easy way to let humidity in. Our team covered the vents, meaning no more cold, moist, or warm air will be coming inside. We next insulated the interior foundation walls with Spray Foam. Filling every space and void, spray foam provides an 100% air seal that has no comparison to old traditional fiberglass. It is the perfect barrier from any air being able to penetrate and this improvement will last the life of the home. The final step to repair the crawl space is to install a dehumidifier.
