Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: A Slowly Sinking Home - Dallas, OR
When our crew came out for a free inspection of this Dallas home, they quickly discovered a problem... and it was a big one. The home's foundation was beginning to sink, and down in the crawl space, there simply wasn't enough support to carry the weight of the home above. On top of that, the crawl space itself was a mess and was in need of attention.
The project started by clearing out the debris. This included bits of fallen insulation and the old, dirty vapor barrier. Once removed, this allowed our crew a clean slate to work with. Next, 12 SmartJacks were installed throughout the crawl space to lift and support the home, finally providing the foundation the reinforcement it needed. To finish things off, a drain system with a sump pump and a fresh 6-mil vapor barrier were installed, leaving the crawl space cleaner and better protected against stagnant water!
Messy Crawl Space
Fallen fiberglass insulation, dirt, and debris covered the old vapor barrier in this crawl space. The vapor barrier was bunched up, ripped, and no longer providing the protection against ground water it was supposed to.
Fresh 6-Mil Vapor Barrier
The crawl space was transformed with a simple touch of a new vapor barrier. Now it has a cleaner, more uniform look, all the while trapping ground moisture from rising into the crawl space.
SmartJacks
SmartJacks were installed throughout this crawl space to lift the home back into place and provide it with permanent support. SmartJacks are adjustable, galvanized steel posts that replace or supplement existing wooden posts beneath the home, giving the foundation the reliable support it needs.
