Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space and Basement Transformation - Tillamook, OR

These homeowners knew it was time to get their basement and crawl space inspected when humidity was rising into the house and making it extremely warm and musty. They were blowing through their bills and financially couldn’t do it anymore. John's design specialist arrived for a free inspection and examined the exterior and interior to see the full picture. They found a pigsty of a crawl space; messy fiberglass, dirt everywhere, and the whole area was trashed. Having a crawl space that is not taken care of will poorly affect the state of the home. The basement also had some water issues that were staining the foundation. Our design specialist and the owners came up with a plan that would fully repair this space and save the house.  Our crew came to begin the project and immediately got to work. They started with removing all of the dirt, aged fiberglass, and debris that was scattered around the interior. Next, they installed the WaterGuard in the basement. This is a non clogging pipe that is set up around the perimeter of the area, collecting water. The WaterGuard is the ultimate waterproofing system and will eliminate the chance of water pooling inside. It will travel to the lowest point of the basement, where the brand new TripleSafe is located. This heavy duty sump pump will pump the collected water outside of the home through an attached discharge line. Don't worry about overflowing, the TripleSafe contains three pumps within the basin, able to handle any level of water. The water exits a safe distance away from the home, no longer causing issues. For the below-grade windows, we installed a WellDuct, which is a drain to gather water from the window wells, allowing it to flow to the WaterGuard system below. Along the walls of the basement, we than installed our BrightWall paneling, providing a semi-finished look to the space.  For the crawl space, it was in need of insulation, so we first laid TerraBlock on the dirt floors. TerraBlock is puncture resistant and will block out any moisture coming in, reducing high humidity levels. On top of the TerraBlock, the crew lined it with CleanSpace. This is a thick 20 mil white liner that assists in blocking out moisture, staying mold free, and deterring rodents from entering. CleanSpace will also give the area a bright, sleek look. We then insulated the crawl space walls with Spray Foam. It will fill every space and void, providing an 100% air seal and last the lifetime of the home, unlike fiberglass. Then we installed vent covers to each vent opening, to not let unwanted critters and outside air inside. The humidity problems were being dealt with, but to fully solve the issue, they installed the powerful SaniDry Sedona. The world's best dehumidifier will dry and filter the air while saving energy. The healthy air will circulate the basement and crawl space, no longer letting unsafe air seep into the house. Now fully encapsulated, the owners can have a dry, healthy, and safe area underneath their home and are extremely grateful for the service!
