Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Staying In The Budget - Gaston, OR

These homeowners had quite the problematic crawl space. The vapor barrier was shredded, dirt was over the vapor barrier, old fiberglass was drooping, and rodents were making their way inside, living underneath the house. They could no longer deal with the mystery of what else could be brewing down there and how it could affect their home, so they scheduled an appointment with John's to get it figured out and repaired. Our Design Specialist arrived and after inspecting the area, they collaborated on a plan. The homeowners were not wanting to go over their budget, so they made a plan that worked for them and their home.  Our crew started removing the debris and useless fiberglass in the crawl space, cleaning it up to have a fresh start. We then began to install a Perf Pipe around interior perimeter. It will collect water and drain it to the lowest point in the area, where the brand new SuperSump is located. This sump pump will take the collected water and pump it out of the house, through an attached discharge line, keeping the crawl space protected against groundwater. The water will exit a safe distance away from the house, with no chance of that same water coming back and entering. After this, we lay down 6 mil Black Plastic as a vapor barrier to help keep out moisture and mold, and separating the Earth from the house. Next, the entry to the crawl space had been exposed and welcoming in outside air, debris, and rodents. To eliminate this problem, we installed an EverLast Door. This is an air tight door that will block out anything from the exterior. They will last the lifetime of the home and will not rot or rust. With this project finished, the owners were extremely grateful to have a safe crawl space and for it to have remained in their budget!
