Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: From Humid To Healthy - Lummi Island, WA

This house was beginning to experience excessive heat coming from below. The humidity in the crawl space was extremely high and unhealthy and that air seeping into the house is unsafe. The owners scheduled an appointment with John's to solve their moisture problems. Our Design Specialist arrived and gave a thorough inspection to find the best solution for this crawl space. Together, they collaborated on a budget friendly plan to repair the issues and give the homeowners a healthy home.  The crew started with removing all debris inside the crawl space and then installed a SmartDrain. This is a temporary drain and will sound off an alarm to alert the owners if a plumbing leak occurs. The water will drain into a dry well until the plumbing can be fixed. The house had no signs or history of water damage so they decided a SmartDrain would be the best fit. Next, they laid down TerraBlock on the dirt floors as insulation. TerraBlock is great at combatting specific needs and not allowing any moisture in. It is designed to be puncture resistant and the best floor insulation. Securing the TerraBlock, we line CleanSpace over top. The thick 20 mil white liner will assist in keeping humidity low, staying mold free, and separating the Earth from the home. The CleanSpace will also give the crawl space a bright sleek finish. Next, one of the main ways outside air and debris was entering was through the exposed exterior access way. The crew installed the EverLast Door to have a tight air sealed entrance, blocking out any air. It will not rust or rot and looks nice on the exterior of the house. The interior walls were needing insulation, so we applied Spray Foam that fills every gap and void. This modern insulation will last the life time of the home. The last step was to install the SaniDry Sedona. The dehumidifier will keep the air dry and filtered and circulate healthy air. This is the ultimate product to having safe levels of humidity and no longer have warm air seeping in through the subfloors. The encapsulated crawl space was finished and the owners were very grateful. They now have a healthy house that won't be overheating from down below.
