These homeowners could see inside of their crawl space from multiple angles outside, and there seemed to be issues. They scheduled an appointment with John's and we sent a Design Specialist out to give a thorough inspection. The access way to the crawl space and the exterior vents were exposed and open, welcoming outside air, debris, and rodents inside. This led to an unsafe, humid, dirty area. Once inspecting the interior, they saw drooping fiberglass, a torn vapor barrier, water stains, and mold. Together, the homeowners and the Design Specialist came up with a plan that was best fit for the crawl space and set a date to begin the encapsulation. The crew arrived and got straight to work by removing all aged fiberglass, debris, and mold to have a fresh clean start to the project. Next, they installed a Perf Pipe surrounding the interior perimeter that will collect any water before damage takes place. The collected water will drain to the brand new TripleSafe. This top tier sump pump will take the collected water and pump it outside of the home through an attached discharge line. The TripleSafe contains three pumps in the basin to be able to handle any water level. To insulate the ground, we add TerraBlock on the dirt floors to reduce moisture and lower the homes heating and cooling costs. It is puncture resistant and will last the lifetime of the house. Securing the TerraBlock in place, we put CleanSpace on top. The thick 20 Mil white liner will assist in eliminating moisture, staying mold free, and preventing rodents from entering. It is the ultimate vapor barrier that presents a bright sleek look to the space. Next, to stop outside air from entering, we install an EverLast Door and vent covers. An EverLast Door goes onto the access way and is sealed tight, protecting the interior. It neatly covers the entrance and will never rot or rust. The vent covers goes on each exterior vent and blocks out the chance of debris or air from getting inside. The interior walls were in need of insulation next, so the crew applied Spray Foam. This modern insulation fills every gap and void with an 100% air seal. Spray Foam will last decades in the crawl space and won't leave a mess. It doesn't attract rodents or mold and will not allow moisture inside. The final step was to install the heavy duty SaniDry Sedona. To fully cut ties with high humidity, this dehumidifier will circulate dry and filtered air and keep humidity at an healthy level. It will remove any odors and keep the crawl space as a safe area. The project was completely finished and the homeowners were ecstatic. Now, they have a waterproofed and closed off crawl space that was healthy!
