Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Upgrading Crawl Space Waterproofing System in Forest Grove, OR

During one of the annual service inspections of this crawl space, we noticed one of the pumps had failed and the old 6 mil vapor barrier had signs of rodent activity so these homeowners decided it was time to upgrade their system from a partial waterproofing system to a full encapsulation. We began this project by removing all of the debris, old vapor barrier and fiberglass insulation. Since the waterproofing system is already in place, it was an easy transition. We replaced the old Zoeller M53, and installed vent covers to prevent outside air, water and rodents from entering and placed our TerraBlock insulation on the dirt floor to create ground insulation and block any moisture from making its way up. On top of the TerraBlock system we install our CleanSpace which is our 20 mil thick vapor barrier. This is also placed between each wooden post and footing as well as anchored into the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. We want to control the environment, so we install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air and keeping the space at a healthy relative humidity. To finish this upgrade, we install our foam insulation. This is sprayed directly onto the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and expands, making sure that every crack and void is filled ultimately guaranteeing an airtight seal, fully protecting this crawl space. Now that this crawl space is upgraded, this homeowner can experience a dry, stable and healthy home.
