John's professional home waterproofing experts gave this crawl space the ultimate health upgrade! After many years of neglect, mold had overtaken the space - poisoning the air both beneath of and inside of the home. Though many believe that what is inside of their crawl space remains strictly away from their family, this is not the case. In fact, 40% of the air inside of homes, comes directly from the crawl space, wafting up into the home through interior flooring. Therefore, whatever is beneath your home, is also inside of it. Thus, a mold-infested crawl space actively poses enormous health risks to families, as unhealthy air particles make their way into the home, and enter the lungs of the family. This is dangerous for anyone, however, those with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory issues are much more at risk. This crawl space was in bad shape, but the dedicated crews here at John's love a good challenge! Our team sprang into action, assembling to prepare for immediate mold removal, followed by a full encapsulation of the crawl space. First, the entire crawl space was thoroughly cleaned out, in preparation for intense mold removal. With thorough precision, our crews soda blasted all surfaces, making sure to hit every crevice and tight space. Soda Blasting removes and neutralizes mold spores, resulting in a healthier space almost instantly. With the mold removal now complete, we got straight to work on encapsulating the space, to ensure the mold would never grow back, and the air quality would remain safe. First, 2 layers of ground coverings were placed: TerraBlock and CleanSpace. TerraBlock is placed directly onto the dirt floor, to provide effective insulation. CleanSpace is our Carbon Fiber infused, 20 Mil Vapor Barrier, placed on top of the TerraBlock, as well as up onto the foundation walls, to prevent moisture from seeping in. Next, our Electrical Division installed a Crawlspace Lighting Package to illuminate the entire space, followed by 2 additional dedicated circuits, for the 24/7 operation of a TripleSafe Sump Pump, as well as a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. The TripleSafe Sump Pump will collect and expel all ground water intrusion beneath the encapsulation, far away from the home via an underground discharge line. This heavy-duty machine features a 3-pump-in-1 canister, where each pump is activated according to water volume, with the 3rd and final pump being fully battery-operated to ensure water expulsion even in the event of a power outage. Our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier will run continuously to clean and filter the air, removing all allergens and toxins, while maintaining a safe relative humidity at all times to prevent re-growth of mold. SilverGlo Insulation Paneling was then installed onto the foundation walls. This double-sided, waterproof insulator effectively prevents water from entering the space, while also reflecting heat back into homes, saving families on energy costs. Finally, all original crawl space vents were sealed with rigid plastic Vent Covers, and the access door was checked to be nice and snug, so that rodents would be unable to infiltrate the air-tight space. Thanks to John's quick, professional action, this family can now thrive inside of a dry, clean, and stable home, breathing in filtered air that is conducive to their long term health, and that of their peace of mind and comfort.
