Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: It's Getting Hot In Here - Brownsville, OR
This muggy crawl space had multiple issues, but the homeowners drew the line when the humidity began to seep into the house and cause high levels of heat, increasing their energy bills. They called John’s Waterproofing to figure out all of the problems and fix the crawl space to save their home. We sent out a Design Specialist for an inspection and to craft up a plan best fit for the house. The homeowners and the Design Specialist discussed to agree on a plan that worked within their budget and scheduled a date to start the project.
Our crew arrived and began to remove the aged insulation and debris, to have a fresh start. This home did not have any existing water issues, so we installed a SmartDrain that sounds off an alarm if a plumbing leak occurs. It allows water a way out of the space until the issue can be fixed. Next, we put TerraBlock on the dirt floors, this an insulation that separates the earth from the house. TerraBlock is a durable insulation that protects the crawl space from moisture, assisting in lowering humidity and keeping it dry. On top of the floor insulation, we lay down the thick 20 mil CleanSpace, as a vapor barrier. CleanSpace goes hand and hand with the TerraBlock by blocking out moisture, but it also eliminates mold growth and rodents from entering. To block dirt and outside air from entering, we set up vent covers and an EverLast Door. The EverLast Door is installed over the entryway of the crawl space, on the exterior. It is sealed tight so that it won't let any critters or air enter, protecting the safety of the crawl space. It will also last the lifetime of the house, with no rotting or rusting. Afterwards, we apply Spray Foam on the interior walls as insulation. This is a modern and air tight insulation, denying any humidity or water from penetrating. The last step is to install the SaniDry. This is a top tier dehumidifier that will save energy while it is drying and filtering the interior air. The SaniDry is the ultimate way to solve the homeowner's biggest problem and will do it efficiently. The crew finished the project and the owners were ecstatic to no longer have to worry about their humidity issues!
Spray Foam
This insulation is sprayed onto the walls to block out moisture and humidity from entering. Spray Foam is tidy and lasts the lifetime of the home.
CleanSpace
The white liner laid out on the ground is a vapor barrier, protecting the interior from moisture, mold, dirt, and rodents.
Dirty Crawl Space
The crawl space before the project was practically inviting moisture, insects, and rodents inside.
SaniDry
This is the powerful SaniDry, that filters and dries the air inside the crawl space. It will eliminate warm air from seeping into the house.
Torn Vapor Barrier and Poor Post
The old vapor barrier had holes and was letting in humidity and moisture, damaging the crawl space. It was in need for the thick CleanSpace vapor barrier. The post was also not properly supporting the home.
