Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Standing Water Almost Ruined This Home - Hillsboro, OR

Water is every homeowner's worst nightmare. It can absorb into the homes materials and cause wood rot, mold growth, and destabilized homes. Luckily, as soon as this homeowner found out there was standing water in their crawl space they called John's Waterproofing. We suggested that since so much water was getting into the crawl space, the best long-term solution would be a full encapsulation. To begin, we needed to remove the damaged vapor barrier because it was ripped from dirt and debris being brought in from water intrusion. Then, we installed a drainage system with a perforated pipe and a TripleSafe sump pump. The perforated pipe is installed along the interior perimeter of the crawl space to collect any water that tries to enter and sends it to the sump pump. The TripleSafe is a three pump system that takes all that water and safely pushes it out of the crawl space and away from the homes foundation. It has heavy duty Zoeller pumps that make it capable of controlling gallons of water at a time. TerraBlock is an insulation foam that gets installed along the base of the space to seal off the earth from the home. On top of the TerraBlock, a CleanSpace vapor barrier gets installed to prevent water from being able to seep through. It is made with thick woven fibers that help to protect it against rips and tears. A SaniDry dehumidifier helps to pull out moisture from the air to keep the space dry and healthy. Lastly, Spray Foam gets applied to the foundation walls as a final air sealant and insulator. Once the full encapsulation is completed, the homeowners won't have to worry about water entering their crawl space and causing any more damage to their home.
